My ancestor John and his brother Thomas were born in 1770s and married sisters. Their sons were double first cousins. Thomas oldest grandson, and his son, W.T., rode in the opening of the Cherokee Strip, claimed land and printed the first newspaper in the newly opened Oklahoma Territory, The son went on to become an OK Legislator and according to family lore, he wrote the first OK state code, among other things, before he died of a brain disease in the mental hospital his legislation helped create. His grandson started an oil drilling company in OK. The first time I set foot on OK soil I felt right at home. I still do. .
