I enjoy reading the older posts, and for those people who are looking for information on a potential city to move to, they could hold some valuable information for them.

Try calling their foliage hotline~the last time I called I actually got to speak with a real live person who was extremely helpful.
The number is:
Fall Foliage Hotline : 1-800-354-4595 (National Forest Service)
Each time I head south to observe the scenic foliage I drink in the beauty and am so humbled. The best things in life are free.

I live down here in SE Oklahoma and the colors are turning nicely right now. In fact, Talihina is having a Fall Foliage Festival this weekend. If you are considering driving the Talimena drive to see the fall colors this Saturday or Sunday stop in and see the car show, art exhibit, entertainment, etc.
If you plan on walking the woods on one of the hiking trails down here to get up close and personal with the fall foliage, be advised that this weekend is the opening weekend for primitive firearms deer hunting, so wear some bright red clothing or pick up one of those cheap hunter florescent orange hunting vests before hitting the woods.

The fall colors are near peak around Stillwater. Some of the crepe myrtles in town are such a showy red. During a break in the televised KS/OU football game a camera caught a glimpse of the fall scenery at Lawrence, KS. Maybe the same thing will be done for Stillwater this Sat. during the telvised OSU/TX game. The view to southwest Stillwater is probably prettiest. Below is a picture of that part of town looking east along W. 19th St., snapped not this year, but a couple of years ago:

If you look in fall foliage, I reccomended that you visit Turner Falls or Chickasaw Recreation in South Oklahoma by Davis and Sulphur
