The fossils are from a time before the mountain Everest was formed. The rock is from a seabed, not a flood. And what on earth do fossils of 50 million year old sea creatures have to do with the Noah story? The Noah story is supposed to be 5,000 years or so old. You know what you have when you take 5,000 years away from 50 million years.

50 million years.

Correct, the rock is originally from the seabed. But my case is the the world was once covered in water during its formation, not from a global flood. It is plate tectonics that formed the continents, which is what was described in Genesis. Noah's flood actually was believed to have occurred 7500 years ago. Scientists are currently gathering evidence from the bottom of the Black Sea (a perfect place for archaeology since the water at the bottom contains no oxygen) to discover what happened there. So far they have found a perfectly preserved shoreline deep under water.

A catasprophic flood in this region could also explain the disappeared city of Atlantis, but don't know enough about Atlantis to make a case.

There was a time in my past - fairly long - when I was also scornful of religion and especially Christianity and, embarrassing to me now, rather vocal.

It was the time when I knew so much more and with such great certainty than now. I did not limit my scorn only to the religious either.

That time thankfully ended with what for me was a dramatic and unexpected encounter.

Some will understand that and others will not. I know that because I was one of the others myself.

It is now just as impossible for me to deny that as it was for me to believe it possible before.

And, as I age, I continue to be surprised and amazed at just how little I actually am and just how little I ever knew.

One of the most insightful posts I've read in quite a long time.
