It isn't an ugly rumor, but I think I heard it on the news. I am not sure which news. It could have been a documentary. I know that they said that they were brought from Thailand. I don't know if it can be found on the internet. But since I can't find the source we can just delete it if you wish.

The above link is about forced labor in the U.S. I doubt if it mentions OK. I have only just begun to read it.

There was a case in Tulsa of forced labor, but the men were from India.

Unfortunately, greed makes people in all areas of the country do that. There's a court case being heard in my own town in So. Dak. right now that is concerning the same thing. The incident happened in a town about an hour west of here. A couple who were motel owners had brought in people from Thailand and basically forced them to be their slaves. They made them work long hours for very low wages and then docked their checks for all sorts of bogus things. Absolutely disgusting and I hope they get their just rewards for this. Since the case is in court and the verdict isn't in yet, I really need to say, "ALLEGEDLY". But I honestly doubt that law enforcement just randomly is going out grabbing restaurant and motel owners and taking them to court if they have no evidence.

Hi Jammie

I think a lot of the illegal immigrants are being exploited by greedy people. They give all sorts of promises, but once they have them in this country they use fear to keep them working for little or nothing. I know in some areas that illegals are causing a lot of trouble, but most of them are just looking for a better life. We do need to clean up our laws and make everyone follow the same rules. We need to make sure we have enough labor, but citizens should have first chance to have jobs.

I don't really know what the consequences of our new law here will be. Since I don't live in the city anymore, I don't see many people who might be immigrants.

I know you weren't trying to nail me synopsis.

I wish the U.S. and all countries would stop exploiting people too. But cynical that am, I don't think it will ever happen.

I have the most naive question to ask, but why IS the US Govt dragging its feet on securing the border?

Geez, I hope this thread doesn't get kicked to the "you know what" forum/thread.

It may have something to do with all the empty miles along the border. It would take too many people and cost too much money to keep people from just walking across.

The US government has done absolutely nothing because the government is all about business. It quit being about the people and all about being pro business. The business owners are the ones all in favor of illegals being in this country, cause it's a cheap labor pool for them. And the politicians fear of loosing the hispanic vote in elections also causes them to do absolutely nothing. It makes me very sad, as a US citizen, to see the vast majority of US citizens all be opposed of not doing anything about the illegal aliens in this country, yet our politicians and the US government sit idly by and do absolutely nothing! When did the government quit being: government of the people, by the people, for the people??

I really think people should have to show proof of citizenship before they can register to vote.
