Forgot to mention....
When we went to JiffyMart to get milk, I opened the door for an elderly lady and her husband who were exiting...
She commented "Oh, a gentleman! Thank you so much..."
I think it's a pretty sad state of affairs when a lady is surprised when someone opens the door for her.
But... I hear (read) it's NOT like that in OK.

No, even down here in this megopolis we call DFW we open doors for people, at least I do. I've even had people open doors for me! However, when I open doors for ladies down here I often don't get a response.

You are expected to wait for a guy to open a door for you here. If you open the door for yourself, he might feel insulted. I often open doors for other people though, including elderly people or people carrying packages etc. Most people will say thank you, but sometimes they might just be distracted or something.

What's funny about that website is the first one; "Where's my wallet at?"
To remove the preposition at the end of the sentence they recommend changing it to "My wallet is where?" when the best thing to do would simply be to remove the "at" and say "Where's my wallet?"

Not even a simple "thank you" or acknowledging smile?

I ALWAYS thank anyone who opens a door or holds one open for me...
Anything else would be rude.

Dumb question...
How do you put a comment along with it when you rep someone?
All I know how to do is click the " [+] Rate this post positively" link.
