I can't tell you about yard sales and such because I haven't done that in Oklahoma in such a long time. However, as for politicians, they all seem to be pretty straight shooters in Oklahoma. Since I don't live there and don't vote for them I don't keep as close a track on them as I normally would. Of course, there are corrupt politicians there as well. I mean, they ARE politicians.

I couldn't tell you about yard sales either... I stay home while my wife goes yardsaling.

And YES, ALL politicians... Ummmm..... (I'll just skip the expletive here.)

But we DO agree on who the next president should be.

World's Largest Garage Sale It's actually a town-wide event so plan on making a day of it.

I don't like to 'talk politics' but I will say that I like our Governor, and I think our taxes are fair and equitable. Everybody pays.

In three years of working for the New Jersey Division of Taxation (2 of them in the customer service call center and one of them in the e-mail unit), I have NEVER heard/seen ANYONE say that. I feel like I landed in Oz. It's okay, toto, that we're not in Kansas anymore because we're in OK, okay?

Thanks for the link... I'll forward it to my wife... She'll appreciate it.

Yes, it's not a good idea to talk politics online, but...
Being a Yankee, I'd like to know what I'm getting into...
Maybe I should have requested opinions via DM.

BTW...
Am I the ONLY guy who "hates" to pay?

Thanks LR,

M.

You can't fool Toto... He's from KS... Which isn't far from OK!
(Then again, Toto could be as stupid as my mother-in-law's dog... In which case you could fool him.)

Garage sales are much more important than politics! Some people make a full-time job of going to yard and garage sales, flea markets, estate sales, auctions.

I would agree with LadyRobyn that our state taxes are about as fair as possible. Everyone has to pay their share whether in income, property, or sales taxes. The problem is how to keep the politicians from wasting/stealing the money we pay.

Brad Henry has been all right as gov. He has done some things I really do not like, but overall he has been okay. We have really vicious fighting in the legislature between Reps and Dems.

I just KNEW that was coming...

Can't be done.
It's too easy to spend other peoples' money.
They think they can spend it better than we can.

Care to elaborate via DM?

It's good for them to fight...
They'd spend even more of our money if they were always in agreement.

Personally, I don't think there's a lick of difference between either party these days.

Thanks,

M.

No, I will put it here for everyone to see. My main problem was when Brad Henry vetoed a tort reform law the legislature passed. Maybe the bill wasn't perfect, and I do think people who are injured etc. should be able to sue, but I think things have gotten a little ridiculous.

My DIL's can barely find doctors to deliver my grandkids because the insurance is so high for doctors. I just think things should be fair and that Oklahoma should try to be business friendly so that everyone can have more prosperity.

My only beef against Gov. Henry is he needs to be removed from the Parole process. As it is, inmates who are recommended for Parole must wait for the Gov to either sign it (approve) or deny the parole.

The process takes anywhere from 5 to 7 months. Basically the taxpayers pay $48/day for inmates to remain in prison so the good Gov can shake hands and make personal appearances.

My 3 cents worth.
