The house we bought in Mustang was on the market for 155 days.

If you really want some trophy sized skeeters, go to interior Alaska or northern Canada. Those are BIG. We're talking deerfly sizes, with a seriously bad attitude.
I read a history of the settling of Matanuska Valley ages ago, and apparently the mosquitos were the biggest hazard. Some scientist figured later that they could kill a naked grown man through blood loss in about 3 1/2 hours. Not that I can imagine anyone sane taking their clothing off there, but still... Where I lived it wasn't mosquitos [though we had those too] so much as no-see-ums. Those are nasty little buggers. Like being dive bombed by a squadron of hungry dust motes.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. We never mentioned it cause if folks knew we played with them everyone would want one and there are only just so many available. We don't have the big ones anyway. The ones around here are only about 3 inches......course with their legs and all they can pretty well cover a womans hand. You generally only see them on country roads when it is getting ready to rain in the summer. Winter they hibernate

Oh yeah, there are tarantulas in Oklahoma. They are much more predominant in the Southern part of the state. One time I was driving from Allen to Ada on Highway 1, at night and in the Summer. It was a full moon and you could literally drive with your lights off if you wanted. Anyway, near Kulihoma and about 1/4 of a mile ahead of me it looked like the highway was moving; kind of shimmering like. I turned off my lights and slowed down as I approached the area.
It was tens of thousands of tarantulas (or maybe wolf spiders, about the same thing) moving across the road! I just sped up and ran over probably a couple of thousand of the things. I HATE spiders, especially the large ones. I don't go out of my way to kill them because I know they are good for the ecosystem, but I get the woolies whenever I see one, even on tv.

The critters I'm not that fond of are the 18" Centipedes....first time I saw one was when we took a boat through our house to get our furniture and there was one on the back of the couch........

Did it look anything like this? This one was photographed in Chandler Park in Tulsa on one of the rock climbing areas. They say these things eat small rodents. BTW, how do you take a BOAT through your house?
