I don't need to get you started...
We yanked our kids out of the public school system here (years ago) also...
And it's a LOT better than CA.

The Navy has the BEST food!

It's NOT nice to pick on sis!
Apparently they're old enough (and probably living elsewhere)
that you don't care, because it won't disturb your peace at home!

Also... If he "exasperates Dad and worries Mama",
you can always resort to "silverware" or "being the COOK".
(We ALL fear you here... After THOSE earlier posts!)

Must be something about the schools in CA. My ex-BIL [who is in his 60s now] was given the choice of enlisting in whatever branch he wanted, or go to juvenile detention. He was career Air Force. And we won't go into the screw-ups they pulled on DH!

But now that I think about it, it might have something to do with being a teenager, too. My son was given some extremely unpleasant choices I won't go into, but one of the options was to get a GED asap. He aced it in a month or so, and he's been a commercial fisherman ever since - he was 14 at the time. He's been fishing more than half his life now, and I still worry - it never gets better. But it helps if I don't watch any of those 'World's Most Dangerous Jobs' things on the Discovery Channel.

Hey, KingSkully, welcome to the forum. We're about to leave for OK in two weeks. Our 18 year old son and 16 year old daughter will be with us. They, too, will be looking for things to do. But first thing they will do is get a job

When y'all get to OK, have your dad look us up so my teens can tell you what they found fun to do. I know Anna will mention horseback riding, but if that isn't your thing, my son Scott (who doesn't ride) will have other ideas, I'm sure.

Default Tulsa?

My wife found a bunch of 3 BR houses under $20K in Tulsa yesterday...

I'm trying to figure out why they're so cheap...
Are they in scary areas perhaps?

Just read a bunch of Tulsa news...
Looks like there's a lot of crime
compared to what I'm used to.

Comments???

Probably in scary areas. give me the addresses and I can tell you for sure.

Not sure what you are used to. I tend to leave my front door open, keys in the truck at night, etc. But where those houses are I believe you would lose everything you own.

Hell, let me check with MLS and see what you are talking about............

You can be a pain in the butt, you know......Good thing I like folks like that....

OK, did a search of MLS with the only criteria being listed for less than $20,000. NONE of the Tulsa houses are in safe neighborhoods. Many of them are repos. This is the kind of neighborhood where bars on the windows is not a bad idea, A/C compressors tend to disappear, etc.

The non-Tulsa <$20,000 listings, however are in great communities......the houses are just really small and need lots of work.

Thanks for the info GP...
I appreciate the effort.
I knew it sounded too good to be true.

Too bad though...
I saw places for like $12K with 3-4 BRs
that really didn't look too bad for the money...
Some of the even "still" had their central air...
(As in the compressor wasn't stolen yet.

Thanks!

All you'd need is a fence around the yard and maybe a neopolitan mastiff, and you'd keep that compressor right where it was supposed to be.

I was thinking about a screened-in box around
the compressor full of scorpions...
But I suppose that wouldn't impress a native Oklahoman.

Normally I'd trust you, but you're from WA as opposed to OK.
