But I suppose that wouldn't impress a native Oklahoman.

Normally I'd trust you, but you're from WA as opposed to OK.
I haven't been in WA all that long! But in STL, they have ordinances all over the place restricting fences to the back yard only - unless one existed before, then it was grandfathered in. Not many of those. So it's not all that possible to have a watch dog [notice I don't say GUARD dog], even if it's just a little yapster that announces strangers. There, you have to buy a burglar alarm. Wonder who got paid off for that... But even in AK, we left our doors mostly unlocked, even with dogs all over the place. There were some dips who'd try to steal something, but not many. Verious of my friends always laughed at me, because I locked my car - didn't want to tempt any kids to go joyriding - but not my house, because you could never tell when someone might need something. Quite a few people either used my phone or bathroom, when they had some kind of emergency. And believe me, a 3 year old who has to go NOW is an emergency!

Thought it was time to conclude my first and only thread from November....

OK IS okay for us!
(Just hope the Summer heat doesn't kill me!)

Having lived in MA and rural NH, I feel very at home here...
It has the best of both worlds.

I met a lot of great current, former and transplanted Okies
here and I don't regret my decision to become one of them.
(Providing I survive the summer.)

Thanks to GP and schousse, we'll have the perfect place to start out here...

A quiet neighborhood that's less than 20 minutes from tons of employment and all the commerce I could ever imagine while we get our bearings.

For the record, there was really no culture shock
and we've had lots of help making the transition....
Thanks again to GP and schousse.

The only serious imposition is that I'm stuck on this laptop
until I get my big rig set up at the new place...
(It does all my work for me.)

And while I'm at it, I'd also like to give thanks to my recently adopted
sister in CA without whose assistance in more ways than I can mention,
made this endeavor possible... She's a very smart, decent and Godly woman.

Lastly and most importantly, I'd like to sincerely thank The Lord....
We've made it here safe and sound and He provided us with more than we could ever want or need.

M.

Well I got a farm injury...
A nice big, deep gash from ankle to knee
accompanied by minor contusions...

Saw what was shaping up to be a tornado on the way back from OKC Thursday....

The thunderstorm we saw was not worth mentioning.

Oh... And I've found my way from GP's place to our new place
twice now....

How many Okie credits is that worth?
