When I first moved to Oklahoma one of the Tulsa stations signed off with a chief - I do not remember who it was - in full regalia that said the Lord's Prayer in native language. It was beautiful and the setting was beyond words to describe. I do not know why it ws taken off air. I think it is the worst thing the station could have done.

Chad Smith, Principal Cheif of the Cherokee Nation will be the Ambassador for Red Earth Festival 2009.

We hope to see the Red Earth parade friday morning and some of the dance competitions on saturday.

most of the artifacts in north america are trade items but the conch shells and mayan art work that was found at spiro cant be since how the mayan trade quickly ended around the same time that the spiro mounds were built same for chokia these two cities were built at the time of the mayan collapse

thats is true about the trade items but for spiro that is almost impossible considering that the mayan empire started collapsing and there trade routes closed either before or right at the time the spiro mounds were even built by nearly 100years

The dancers are made up of Creek, Yuchi, Seminole. they are from the Duck Creek ceremonial grounds..

What's the uniform he's wearing? Was that part of the Fox tribe's dress? It almost looks like a military uniform. And yes, a very impressive collection of bear claws.
