"Marriage" would become something outside of law and alone carry no legal weight.

What is fair for one is fair for all. Did you tell hetro couple's the same thing? If you didn't then there is every reason for not calling it a day.
I Wouldn't Be Opposed To That let everyone get Domestic Partnerships and the real Christians
go to theirs churches and have theirs Marriage and theirs Marriage License given to them and the Homosexuals can do like wise everyone would be sat is fried.

Be Forever WONDERFUL

During the period of time when California had both SSM and Domestic Partnerships they both had
100 % of the same rights , however they were not Equality for Gays in regards to Heterosexual
Marriages because of DOMA.

If POTUS would have USED THE WISDOM OF KING SOLOMON He would've written An E.O. Giving Domestic Partnerships and Civil Unions Equality With Heterosexual Marriage Avoiding SSM.
DOMA is dead now. And an executive order of that sort isn't likely to be constitutional, as it would affect a lot of laws in place and federal tax revenue.

Seriously, it's been recommended that you not move to Oklahoma because of your views. In time, Oklahoma will have legal gay marriage, whether state-enacted or federally. Perhaps you should consider a move to Saudi Arabia if it really bothers you that much.

I am assuming by "sacred" you are basing this on biblical ideas regarding marriage, in which case you couldn't be more wrong anyway, since things such as polygamy, forced marriage of rape victims to their rapists, arranged marriages between the very young and marriages between older males and young females are all rampant throughout The Bible.

But beyond all that, we do not use The Bible as a basis of our laws in this nation any more than we use the Koran or the Bhagavad-Gita as a basis for our laws, nor should we.

OKLAHOMA residents cannot vote on any issue that has NOT placed on a ballot. NO issue is placed on any ballot before the legislative process is finished. The question of SSM is squarely in the laps of the legislators the people of Oklahoma elected.

IF the people of Oklahoma do not like what their legislators are doing then they need to throw the bums out and elect people who represent their interests.

Howest,

Common Law marriages are complicated. It is archaic and in most states it is not legal today. It is two who live together without the rights afforded by civil union. It used to be called "shacked up"; women were shunned.

I've never heard of a common law widow receiving Social Security benefits for herself or for her minor children. The civil ceremony is just as legal as a religious rite. The parties of both are issued a certificate with names and date of ceremony.

lol. So before some time in the 50s, it was just One Nation Under?

Sounds about right for the 2000s, since we're going under fast!

I suppose you refuse to use money that says In God We Trust, too.

Talk about hypocrites! Liberals. Very confused!

"One Nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." UNDER nothing.......certainly not under a fear of the godless communists invading. I talked to god about that part of the pledge and the stuff on the money. He said that s hit is up to the government. He had nothing to do with it. If seeing it on the money makes your chest swell with pride, you really should get a life. If you wanna see hypocrisy visit a topless bar and watch the "christians" tucking "In God We Trust" into g-strings and bra straps........
