The religious freedom was meant to allow the practice one's faith without government interference. Otherwise state and religion are constitutionally separated. I don't particularly care one way or the other, but, imho it is a slippery sloped

But religious right conservatives feel that the 1st Amendment was not intended to protect anyone from religion. So if you're offended by a religious monument, like the one for the Ten Commandments, on government property, then that's just too bad. Try looking the other way. But will they take their own advice by allowing a satanist monument to be erected on government property?

It's difficult to imagine that an intelligent person presumes to know what an untold number of other people FEEL. I wonder how that works? It has to be an amazing talent. Extremely impressive.

If they really must push religion, do a monument to religion... but ALL of them. There would be a symbol for each and the name. Those like Wicca too. Christans get ONE symbol the same size as the rest. And something for those who do not have one. The issue is that they want only this black slab for their god, but others are not invited. So why not just put it at a church and then nobody will mind.

Considering the car could have gone all the way into the state capital which might have been somewhat fatal to it, maybe a fence with each post with a symbol of a religion so it can stand fast and keep it standing longer?

I find it ironic that my tribe was not allowed to have a sun dance, by the very people who came to this country to have freedom of religion. And some tribes to the north could not even have a sweat lodge, which is where we pray to the Great Spirit. And then came the Native American Church. It was only after the 1900's that we were allowed to practice the peyote road.

But most churches deem it inappropriate to have the Ten Commandments displayed in the building or on the lawn.

I'm sure they'd find a place. On public state property isn't it. I do like the idea of having the Bill of Rights. It would be a very proper choice.
