Sorry Music girl.
Before I read the rest of the posts, Tx. popped into my mind, too. We've never been there, but it's supposed to be a well liked state for friendliness and other things.Ark. may work. I don't know much about that state. ![]()

Thanks Peggydavis. I think they will get better now this is helped my parents love each other more and i know that sounds strange but it really did. Actually briansgi we lived in Bentonville for a while but we had a similar problem there. And btw Beaver lake is one of the clearest lakes I have ever seen. It's beautiful. Jammie we looked in the part of texas around Fredericsberg (can't spell it pronounced fred-ricks-burg) and Round rock. We even looked into Marble falls but there weren't enough job opprotunities. Right now we are leaning towards the Springfield, Missouri area but we don't know much about it. I think it looks like a nice place. I don't know. Has anyone lived there before? Thank you guys for helping it can be hard finding a good place to live.

Thanks for letting us know how you are doing, Musicgirl. I am glad your parents are working things out.
I have never been through Springfield but I have been through there, stopped for a night and some looking around the town. It certainly is a beautiful area, and Springfield seemed like a nice clean city. There was a road that had so many Chinese restaurants we had a hard time choosing one for our dinner! |

The Springfield area is a lot like NE OK. Missouri has it's good and bad points, the worst [for me] about Springfield being that it's fairly close to Branson. Seems like everyone and anyone who can wants to retire near Branson, even if they have to live in Arkansas to do it. You can check jobs out on Monster.com, or google for newspapers in the area. Most of them are on line, at least their classifieds are. They will also show current rentals, but keep in mind there are a lot more that don't bother to advertise. They just put a sign in a window with a phone number, and those can be a lot cheaper than the ones listed in a paper.

Thanks. That's a good idea a few days ago we went up there to job and house hunt. It was hard. Mostly we were kinda worried about crime. My mom said it was the 3rd largest city in MO. I saw on t.v. how they were giving elementary school kids drugs and stuff for a few dollars. Just enough to get them hooked. I have siblings in K, 1st, and 2nd and i was worried they might get into something like that. I know better but I'm worried about them. They don't have that many street smarts. None at all actually. Does anyone know about that?

Springfield crime statistics do look high. It is important to talk to your siblings about drugs and how to avoid them. Kindergarten in not too young to help them stay safe.

Springfield, Missouri (MO) Detailed Profile - relocation, real estate, travel, jobs, hospitals, schools, crime, news, sex offenders
This is really surprisng. Springfield does seem to have a bit of a crime problem. It's nearly double the national average. But just to put your mind at ease, there are some cities who's numbers are 1200 or above.![]() Musicgirl, that is so nice of you to be concerned about your younger siblings. ![]()

MusicGirl, the criteria for EVERYONE looking for their "place" is so different that you might want to look into Sperlings "Cities Ranked and rated" It was a very helpful book during my 2 years of research to find a place best suited to my needs. Some of my criteria that people don't always think about is the large city you'd live closest to for major medical needs and affordable airfare. If Austin, TX area wasn't so hot and with desert landscape (what I wanted to leave behind), it is a place with affordable living and a lot of jobs. I also like Springfield, MO but it is a bit more "country feeling" than I prefer; such as a lot of stockyards, cattle auctions, etc. I personally perfer the west coast quaintness without being on the west coast which means I lean towards college and tourist towns.
