Before they were moved west and became civilized the Chickasaw would raid the Choctaw and enslave them. the Seminole are related to the Creek, and when slaves would escape into the swamps of Florida would find refuge as equals in the Seminole nation.

Special thanks to all our moderators for keeping our okie forum safe, sane and consistently full of "good vibes", unlike some of the other state threads.

As moderators we really don't have much work on the Oklahoma forum unless someone from another forum comes to cause problems. Okies are just nice people. This is probably one of the most peaceful forums around. If anyone disagrees with me, please tell me which one is just as peaceful, if not more so.

Ditto that! Most, if not all trouble in the Oklahoma forum comes from outside (trolls and the like).

Speaking of the Civil War, there are literally hundreds of sites telling about the Indian Territory during the time period.

I thought this was a good start: Civil War in Indian Territory Site Index

Ditto to what Jessaka and Synopsis said. I just feel double blessed because the Dakota's forums are peaceful, too unless someone comes along and rattles our cage.

Oklahoma was inhabited mainly by the tribes that had been removed to Oklahoma in the 1830s.

The Creeks were divided with some on the Union side and some on the Confederate side. The tribe had been doing pretty well up until the Civil War, but the war destroyed their prosperity. Many homes were destroyed and livestock killed. After the war the tribe was punished by the US and lost part of their land.

I also thank our moderators for keeping our forum nice and peaceful, like Oklahoma.

(so far ) We need to find one of those playthings your younger grandbaby is in... Lexi is only 5 months old but she HATES to lay down and play with her toys, she wants to be 'upright' all the time. Hmmm... Christmas is almost here... Wal-mart here I come!

That little toy has been worth its weight in gold. The baby stays safe and is entertained by all the buttons and lights and music.

Don't know if I belong in the Okie chat forum, but I checked out the NH forum (my native place) for a week, and it s*cks. (Please pardon my French.)

I wanna be an Okie too!

M.
