Thanks for the great pics LR. It was almost like being there except not so scary!
At least your Dad's house has a metal roof looks like, and brick with everything trimmed up around it. That really helps the FD if the fire burns really close. Once you go through a fire like that, which I have, you never look at the Fire Departments and Police Departments the same way again. They were like heroes to us during our big fire. |

Wow. those were great pictures LR. Thank you for taking the time to post. Those volunteer firemen are the best. They do this for no pay; only as a service to the community. Firemen are heroes, real life heroes. They are a special breed.

My son-in-law is a volunteer firefighter and EMT. Very proud of him. Like you say, no pay. Maybe a nice jacket at the end of the town year. Our daughter has joined the auxillary part of the dept. Fires just scare the crap out of me. Can't imagine fighting one.
LR....Are you ok? Is Dad ok? |

We're fine.
The fire didn't come nearly as close as the Trooper made it sound, but in his defense the smoke was so thick it was hard to tell exactly where the flames were. Better to err on the side of caution anyway!I did go back and try to get some pics, but the area is very hilly and thick with trees... To get a decent vantage point we would have had to trespass on Private property and I'm not too keen on getting buckshot holes in my van! ![]() I would have to agree... but I am kinda partial being his only child and all. I think he is amazing. ![]() |

In my little piece of western Washington it was clear and cool (48) this afternoon when I hopped on the John Deere to mow part of the yard. Fortunately I finished before we had a shower of tiny ice pellets. By the time I got to the intercom and called my husband in his workshop to look at it, the ice had stopped. Then a little rain. Then the sun came out again. Such is spring in Jefferson County, Washington.
