The training starts May 19th, with a full six to eight month training period But benefits start on day one, which is a great relief since we're paying over $1300 a month for COBRA right now.

However, on the funny side, Doug got an interview for Friday for a Systems Administrator job. The funny part is the job interview is taking place while they're fishing at Lake Hefner. He had to go out and buy a fishing pole, since we left ours in NJ by mistake, and two fishing licenses. This is by far the strangest job interview I've ever heard of, and I worked as a headhunter for several years. He's meeting the guy at 7 AM in front of the building where the office is, and from there they're headed to Lake Hefner to fish (and interview). I guess if you live long enough, you see everything!
Good luck on your new job should you decide to accept it!
One of my clients in NH worked for The Hartford when she lived in CT...
They trained her well... She was brilliant on the phone.

Doug is a lucky guy!

I can't imagine a more ideal circumstance to be interviewed in.
That kind of thing NEVER happens to me....

I have an appointment with a headhunter today....
I don't expect much to come out of it though...
I've never seen anyone get anything good through a headhunter.

And I really have no confidence in this one because
I can't imagine a company wanting to hire through someone who wrote the following sentence in an e-mail to me...

Excerpt from e-mail from headhunter:

-------------------
"After looking at your resume you seem to fit a IT support positions and will discuss further options for you during your interview"
-------------------

Everyone makes mistakes on occasion, but you're supposed to proof read
things in a professional environment before you send them out.

I'm going to consider it to be practice for a REAL interview.
I haven't been on one in about 10 years.
At least this way, I won't feel like I'm wasting my time.

Who knows? Maybe she'll take me fishing.

Good luck, CG. Maybe the headhunter is better at her job then she is at spelling and English.

So... where was this "other state"? Inquiring minds want to know.

Tell us! OR we will start a thread on it and sic Colleeng, CaliOkra girl, and RB onto your trail.

Thanks!
Me too!

The job they put me up for (IT Manager) sounds awesome.
Even the lower end of the pay scale is SIGNIFICANTLY better
than anything I ever saw in NH and even MA for that matter.
It's WAY more than I envisioned making up here.

I asked about the duties involved, and they said
it read just like my resume... I don't suppose I can do better than that.

From what I gather, a guy with 20 years experience can go
pretty far in Tulsa....

Speaking of that.... What ever happened to my friend Techienomad?
I think he'll love it here.

Hey Okies....

Isn't it a prerequisite that a potential Okie must post their picture here publicly before they are allowed to relocate to OK?

Not necessarily, CG, we managed to sneak ourselves and families in before they caught us all on camera at the lunch.

Sounds good, CG, good luck with the interview. Doug's interview was changed when the interviewer's boss found out about the fishing expedition. It was changed to a regular, office, suit and tie interview on Monday. This one sounds good, too, and the salary is up there with what he was making in NJ. Hope both of you guys get something soon. The good thing about my job is the benefits start day one (May 19th), so no $1300 payment to COBRA this month. Yea!
