It wasn't that I took it lightly....
I just decided not to let it prevent me from enjoying my evening.
The day I came to OK, we were in Rolla, MO and the Weather Channel said Tulsa was going to be destroyed... They predicted everything but plague and famine. I watched and watched.... doom and gloom...

From what they were saying, Tulsa wasn't going to be there when I got to OK
They also said it was going to last for like 2 days.
Finally, I called GP and he said "c'mon down"... And we did.
The storm passed over us in Rolla and we left during the tail end of it.
Most of the drive was sunny.
Tulsa was still there.
None of GP's cows were whisked off to Kansas...
Even his little dog Toto... Ummm... I mean Twila was still there.
I guess my point is this....
The weather folk enjoy when they get the spotlight and they make the most of it.
If I had listened to them that day, I would have arrived in OK 2 days later than scheduled and spent an extra 2 nights in a hotel.
For the next couple of days, Mrs. CG said I wasn't allowed to watch the Weather Channel

Last night they made it sound like we were doomed again.....
It showed Tulsa under some really severe weather on the map,
and promised more horrible things to come, and yet we saw nothing....
I'm at the point now that I'm not going to sweat it until I see or hear something coming. Otherwise, we'd be in a constant state of fear. I can't live that way.

The news stations are too alarmist even for my standards.
The house we're in is about 50 years old and it's still here.
The tree in front has some ice storm damage, but it appears to be pretty old too.
Historically... Judging by the other older properties here, it's a
"relatively" tornado free zone. I know it's possible to get hit, but worrying about it constantly won't change anything. It either has your name on it or it doesn't.

Can any of us add even 1 hour to our lives by worrying?

My money is on GP or RB.)[/color]
It wouldn't be possible to be an Okie if you're going to be afraid of the weather.
Like the bugs, you have to take it in stride and live your life.
Someday I may even get used to the idea of venomous snakes and go fishing again.
We did get to see lots of cool lightning and heard some pretty big hail starting at 2:15am... Don't know how long it lasted because I went back to sleep.
There wasn't much thunder compared to a mountain storm, but I think it's the most lightning I've ever seen in such a short period. My machines are on quality UPS's, so there's nothing to stop me from enjoying the show.

I'm not too keen on hail damage, but again, there's not much you can do about that, and worrying about it won't change anything.
We should consider making a big deal every time we get severe weather though...
That way we can keep the OK population from exploding.
And no.... I'm NOT typing this from Kansas.
(I bet LR checks my I.P. address just to be sure though.)
