This patch looks like something one might win for a "Paper Scissors Rock" competition.

Is the photo contest something on CD where members here can vote? Or is this a local happening in OK? If it's here on CD, how do you check out the pics, and how do you vote?

I'm pleased to say that I could not possible do that today....

Sounds like El Duque in his pitching windup. I never have seen how it was possible for anyone to bring his knee all the way up to the shoulder like that.

The key question though, CG, is can you do a scorpion? I wouldn't even want to try twisting myself into some position like that. Side note: See, Britney, it's not enough to just say do some stretching and then you'll get it. The years do take their toll, including robbing one of some flexibility, the sort of thing that makes it so CG can no longer knee himself in the face. (Why did you do that, anyway, CG?)

So now I've read a little about the martial art, Han Mu Do, they teach at this school. Not sure it would be the right one for me, but it looks interesting. Interesting variety of practical techniques. It's the paradox of the martial arts that especially emphasize a philosophy of overall personal development: Staying true to the origins of martial arts as means of fighting, even potentially deadly fighting, leads to personal development that goes way beyond self-defense. And at those times when the focus is specifically on self-defense, there's the paradox that the goal is to avoid trouble whenever possible, by being able to handle it if you had to. Looks as if what they teach at this school gets to the heart of these ideas.

Even though I'm done having children, I still wouldn't want to try,
but thanks anyway.

I hope we're here when she's 45 or so...
She'll understand then.

Yes, when Cali_Okie's 45 she'll understand. Of course she has a year or two to go before then. In the meantime, Cali_O, take our word for it about the effects of accumulated years.

Trying to impress girls? I'm sure they were very impressed by seeing you bop yourself in the nose!

I found out later that they were easier to impress
when I was a rock musician... That hurt a lot less.
