OK... Y'all know I am NOT one to send forwarded emails but I just had to share this one. So true. For all of my friends and neighbors...

Dirt Roads (http://famguardian.org/Subjects/FamilyIssues/Articles/DirtRoads/DirtRoads.htm - broken link)

FutureCntryBumpkin, C'mon home when you can...we'll be here. Just stepped out the back door to bring the cat in and stopped to listen to the crickets chirping and watch the fireflies dance across the yard.

Yep, this is Oklahoma... MY Home.

FutureCntryBumpkin, welcome. We're so glad to have you, and we're waiting for your arrival.

LR - loved that "Dirt Roads". I love Paul Harvey, too. I used to listen to him on the radio back in the day.

Went to the Mustang Firefighters Bean Supper tonight. Had a great time. This is what small town America is all about. They had a great supper, rides for the kids (including a pony that Anna got to walk around with the kids on it), a local band, and a raffle. After it got dark there was a fabulous fireworks display set to music. It was really, really nice, I think half the town was there.

Gotta still do a lot of stuff in yard after work (still workin' - YUK) and seem to barely have time to read this stuff much less answer..
If you're heading towards 70 going 100, you better HURRY! Or we'll have to send MK to come get you. That is his official okie forum job. Picking up stragglers left behind in cali.

I hate yard work. Last night we left the water on in the garden and this morning there was 3 inches of water covering everything. Oh well. Another day, another senior moment.

Hey yawl,

In from the heat to check forums.

Yep Kari, I followed your adventure also. You are a brave one too. So glad you got settled in as well as you did. I worried about your "home on the range" at Peggy's when the weather got interesting.

LR, I can't wait! Thanks for the "Dirt Roads". That was great. The last pic of the house will do me just fine. I have been out in the yard this mornin' digging a hole for my potted watermelon. (Was I optomistic or what?). I've just taken to planting nothing but edibles now, just to practice for when you can really garden in OK. It's so hot in the desert, that I don't have a handle on the timing yet. If I have my way, I won't get a handle on it either. Just funnin' around 'til I can escape. It's noon-forty and already 109 deg., so therefore, time to scan OK forum. Fireflies, ah yes. Never saw any until moving to OK. That's why I never got a bug zapper, 'cause I didn't want to zap them too.

Thanks MK. It'll be a rental in Tahlequah - I'm hoping at this point, but it can be warmed too. Have to rent somewhere to have a base to look for the poifect spot to either rent or buy. At my age not sure yet, but want it in the country, at least far enough from town to have critters. Kari did it so I'm gonna give it a shot also.

Thank you C-47. When I was living in Tulsa I drove for a medical lab all through the upper quadrant to Miami and back down along the lake through Grove, etc., and I used to get Paul Harvey and really enjoyed his program. I just hope when I get back there I'll be able to afford to drive around and enjoy the country and go the get togethers, but with the gas going like it is, it'll be too hard on a bicycle at my age. We are paying $4.399 as of yesterday. Where will it end? By the way, congrats on closing on your house. What a great day huh? With the date coincidences you need to put some numbers together and grab RB and head to a casino. You never know!

Hey RB, I'm hurryin' as fast as I can. Where are pics of your garden. I only saw the start. Did the rains drown it out or did you????? I've done the same with the water (da*n senior moments) but the sand just swallows it up and all I get is new growth on the elm, and a high water bill. Bite your tongue re: diapers. So far, so good. If I'm out in the country, it won't matter though!!!

I'm sure glad to be here with you all finally. Don't know what took me so long to dive in. Just bashful I guess.

Also where are some pics of Peggy's garden. It sure looked purty in the beginning when I saw it. Sure like those raised beds. Would like to see what they look like when all grown up.

Back to the heat. More work to do. Will cool off again in a while (and check forums s'more..)

Well, FutureCntryBumpkin, you'll be happy to know that the 7-11 about 1/2 mile from my house is selling gas at $3.75 a gallon, up from $3.69 only a couple of days ago.
