BTW redbird, if you do take a picture and want me to do a little photoshop on it, I'll be glad to do so. Nothing to cheat but I can enhance the different aspects of the photo to bring out its highlights.

OH!! Thanks for broadcasting that from the rooftops there, synopse.
Whaddya tryin ta do, get me disqualified???
The correct way would've been to send a DM and say....Pssst! hey kid, over here! Let me help you win that contest. Yea, mums the word.....
I want a photoshop. I only use this el cheapo wal mart kodak that costs $39. It doesn't have any settings on it except day shots and night shots. I was too far away from the eagle to get a good shot of it.

Oh, I wouldn't cheat for ya, just enhance the best part of the photo. I'm sure everyone else is probably doing a little of that as well...

It's a shame. When I came out here I either threw away or gave away alot of things. One was a metal carrying case with 3 high powered cameras, a tri pod, 2 long high speed lenses, and a mess of colored filters and afew other things.I was told they use to belong to a News Photographer. "Oklahoma Pictures" thread wasn't up then or would have held onto it and them to one of you.

Per Alpha, there is still room for anyone to enter this picture contest. So how about it, Synopse and Jessaka? We need more representation!
QUOTE FROM ALPHA8207: All the pictures so far look great. There's some real talent floating around out here on CD.
Question:
I've been contacted by the site Administrator and a even a couple of members about the time for submission. Someone even mentioned it in this thread. Does anyone have a huge issue with us leaving the poll closed until 11:00am Friday?
That's actually in the OP for the contest, I just looked. (Actually I had it closed until 10:00am Friday) Anyway, that will give folks a little more time to get their pictures in. I know we have a multitude of CD members effected by the ice storm and I know everyone is busy, so we've been thinking of it being closed for voting until tomorrow morning.
DM me if you have any serious issues.
(Also, since we had a couple of extra spots, I'm going to allow the submissions by folk not listed in this thread as long as the format is correct and there's room in the poll for them.)

Try this: http://www.gimp.org/windows/
It will do pretty much anything PhotoShop will do,
and it's Open Source... As in free and legal.
Give it a try, you'll like it.
Off to work!

If you're used to PhotoShop, there will be a slight learning curve...
While it will do most of the same things, the terms and menus are a bit different.
I suggested it to redbird, because it will be a LOT better than what he's currently using.

It's a very powerful program. I first noticed when I went into the "Levels" command under the Color menu, which is layed out EXACTLY like PhotoShop. That command is very powerful to manipulate the background and lighting of an image.
