Hm. Well, now I feel bad~ like maybe my post was perceived as trying to make a case condemning his packrat ways, sorry if it appeared that way.

I am of the opinion that we are all unique and I love that individuality.

No, of course I don't begrudge anyone keeping mementos. I understand completely. But what I have posted is the tip of the iceberg, you have never seen our 3rd bdrm, it is freaky. Like on the verge of mental illness pack rat. I dare not share a pic of that room!

OMG. I have tons of empathy! He has led a long life and achieved tremendous goals during his life. He is very detail oriented, and I am very big picture oriented.

I am the Oscar Madison to his Felix Unger, always have been. That
is what makes for an interesting life.
I teach him spontaniety, living life to the fullest and he teaches me to be a better adult with logical responsible life choices.

May we al be blessed to have someone like him in our lives.

The Odd Couple, that was another great show we used to watch. Shows used to be funny and interesting. I have always been more like Oscar, but it is good to have the Felix types around too, or the world would be a mess.

Maybe you should just adopt the Synopsis Method...

SLOWLY make things disappear.
In 1 year you'll have gained an extra 500 sq.ft.

Just hope that Uncle Don doesn't suddenly decide he needs that old
recipe for squirrel surprise... Then again, even if he did, perhaps
even he knows he'd never be able to find it, and would just skip it altogether.

Oh, I have been on the Synopse plan of waste management for a loong time. That's the way to go. I usually get disgusted with one room, like the TV room and can fill 3 bags withing a matter of minutes. Its just human nature to collect stuff. We all do it to different degrees.

And I never throw away recipes, because I am the cook around here.

You will find all this out when you move, moving is the best way to toss crapola on a legitimate basis.

P.S. We have tons of polyester clothing from the 70's. And hundreds of ties. And he won the battle on the shoes. There are still nine pair of shoes under his bed that were bought more than 10 years ago.

Default Just a quick note...

The boy made it home yesterday. (Thanks for the supportive prayers!!)

Baby Girl has grown soooo much!! And she has a cold.

Gramma had forgotten that two year olds have 16 arms and travel at warp speed... one day in and I am exhausted already!! "Christmas Dinner" may happen at McDonald's this year.

My girl kitty is slowly making peace with the grand-daughter but the boy kitty is utterly traumatized and has chosen to stay in his room indefinitely. GD is a squealer, which causes him to go nuts.

We are still trying to figure out how to take her to visit great-grandpa, without causing him AND his German Shepherd undue stress. (Not to mention the horses! )

The first meeting between the cousins (6 mon and 2 yr) was PRICELESS!

I doubt I will get another chance to pop in before Christmas, so you all have a WONDERFUL time!!!

*HUGS* - LadyR

So when are you going to do digital with all those recipes?

We will only be taking irreplaceable stuff with us...
Everything else is getting sold off or given away to friends.

Hey I had those shiny print shirts in the 70's!

And I bet Uncle Don will tell you that all those shoes will come back in style!
Hip-huggers and bellbottoms have already come back... Just you wait.

It's not that the 2 year old is fast... It's just that we slow down with age.
I KNOW there will be NO Christmas at McDonalds!

When our kids were tiny, we had a (GOOD) cat with an attitude...
He let our kids live when he occasionally got his tail or hair pulled...
I think he knew better.

Default Tech question

CG and Synopse,

Do you recommend maxing out the virtual memory setting? I have 3070KB max, with 1500 recommended, and I am set at 2800.

I have 1GB RAM and 70GB HD.

TIA,
