I don't know if I could live in a house where it was full of what I would call junk. I am one that would be cleaning and cleaning and cleaning. I throw things away that even I own. I guess I would give a person one room and then keep the door closed. I don't even know how I have managed to live in this house since we have been remodling for over a year and are no way finished. Furniture often gets piled into a few rooms while another is being remodeled.

Now we are getting ready to put in a wood stove so some things have to come out of the living room until we have two other bedrooms remodeled. I am a neat freak that loves to decorate and have things perfectly my way. My DH has a picnic table in the laundry room to be and it is stuffed with all of his junk. That bothered me and when he is gone I clean it up some. Someday the picnic table will be outside and he will have a real kitchen table, but he will have drawers somewhere for his stuff. Someday he may even have his own shop, right now it is on the backporch that he built.

Do you recommend maxing out the virtual memory setting? I have 3070KB max, with 1500 recommended, and I am set at 2800.

I have 1GB RAM and 70GB HD.

TIA,
If you set both the min and max to 4096MB, it will be sufficient and efficient.

I can give you some explanation if you like, but we risk making Peggy and Colleen's eyes glaze over.

Thank you so much, CG. I started to "roll" my glazed-over eyes before I caught you saying you wouldn't go further. Rep point for you.

Your eyes glaze over WAY too quickly...

Imagine if I had taken the time to explain that the reason for equal min and max sizes
are because a static swap file yields better performance than a dynamic one.
(Ask your husband... He'll like that! )

I'm just going to ignore any discussion that has computer talk.

Jessaka, that sounds like a great way to live. I was just thinking the other day that I would like to be like a lady I dropped in on, just to give her a paper. She invited me in and everything was so nice and neat, I was jealous.

But, my husband is really sweet in so many ways, I guess I will forgive him. At least he doesn't put his junk in the sink, the dishwasher, or the washing machine. Well, not yet.

Fine! You just be that way!
(Until you have a REAL problem with your computer...)

Wait until I get to OK and teach him the ancient ways of The East!
(Just kidding! My wife would tell you that I'm reasonably considerate.)

Thank you CG, major reps for you. Now, colleen and PG please avert your
sweet eyes one more time. CG, I may have to DM you, I could not get on to CDforum or anyother website because my computer firewalled my aol!! It said AOL was disconnected and firewalled.

It kept saying Internet Explorer to website halted, try refresh or check spelling. So today, i could not get on to any website anywhere. So I system restored.

I think I just may junk this Dell and ask you to refer me to a nicer machine... Off-thread of course, I don't want to violate any CDF rules or policies or WORSE, make Peggy and Colleen or Jessaka become angry with me. I might eat some junk food recipe in retaliation.

One last thing while I am online.

I want to publicly nominate Peggydavis for OKIE NEIGHBOR of the month for offering to meet with colleengirl and help her find a home in a decent neighborhood in OKC.

That is darn near the nicest thing I have seen on CDF EVER!!!

I for one would hate to move to another city and not know what neighborhoods are crappy. And I know of a few in OKC.

So, KUDOS to peg. You're alright!!

Most likely, it's NOT your machine...
I have to shutdown now, but I'll be happy to help you out...

DM away if you need!

If you'll set the infinite variables mix to 100 over 50, and then tweak ALL of your suspension settings to the max (not just the odd settings on the docometer, but ALL of them) you set up your bandwidth for 60 bit supression.

Now for the difficult part.

Change all of the parameters in the registry to their default values. The only way to do this, or the only way I recommend you do this, is to demagnetize the registry editor, which will clear the virtual memory and allow for a sufficient buffer zone.

Once you've done that you are ready to amend the system drivers. Let me know when you get to that point and I'll be glad to explain further.
