Peggy, thank you for asking. I'm doing pretty well now. I ran into a problem cause generally they give me meds if I'm sick or have surgery and I can't end up taking them. I get so dizzy, headachey, hurley, etc. So as usual, I got frustrated and threw them in the back of the cupboard. SO, I got inflammation in my left leg, where my pain was to begin with. I was terrified that we'd fixed the wrong thing and I'd need another surgery. We spent half of Christmas Day in the emergency room and the following day we saw our family Dr. He contacted the neurosurgeon and they finally figured out that I was naughty and not taking my meds. They were nice about it though and told me I've got to stop selling them on ebay. So between our family Dr. and the pharmacist, I think things will be ok. They said I won't be a pest and I can keep calling them if I have problems with meds. I have a pill to melt on my tongue for dizziness and motion and one to melt on my tongue for nausea~each before I take a single pill. If I can continue choking them down, I can be done with meds by Monday. I feel like such a baby, but I've always had so many problems when I took drugs that it just wasn't worth the hassle. My Dr. knew I hated drugs, but didn't know that I've never finished a single prescription he's given me. At least they're trying to help me with taking meds.

Anyway, I had started walking at the old mall and was up and moving pretty well and now I have to start over. I went in to this surgery drug free and in pretty good shape~I jog 45 min. per day and try to stay active. Well, now I will be down to walking only, but it's ok. At least I'm getting up and moving again.

Good to hear you are doing better Jammie! At least you can walk! Right now, I can't walk more than a couple of hundred feet and up until 8 months ago I was a jogger and walker, worked out, all of that. I'm hoping I can get my problem fixed so I can get back in shape, and soon!

Geez, synopse, how long have you been like this? I would've been freaking out by now.

Jammie, I hope you get to feeling better. I don't trust pills, and I think too many MD's prescribe too many pills.

Hi honeys! I'm *home* LOL Had a wonderful but EXHAUSTING Christmas, everyone is home safe and Gramma is almost finished recuperating. I always over-do it when my babies are around. Just can't resist picking them up for a squeeze or two and my back gives me fits for it.

I blew out a disk (L5/S1) 9 years ago and even though it healed nicely it lets me know when I do bad things. (like romp in the yard with a two year old)

Let's see...

Jammie, Good to hear you are on the mend! Keep taking your anti-inflammatories...they are your best friends right now! I feel for you on the pain meds, I can't take them either!! Best I could do was take a half dose and I felt AWFUL! Worst for me is 7.5 Loratabs (which seems to be the fave among docs these days ) If I HAVE to have them I take a half and go straight to bed... if I move at all I puke them back up.

My theory?? Keep MOVING! If you stop you'll stiffen up for good!

Synopsis, 3 words... Ice, Ice, Baby! When I hurt my back the LAST thing I thought of was using ice... My Chiro pointed out how puffy my lower back was and started me on an icing regimen that kept me mobile while my disk healed. (Mine looked like a squashed kidney bean on the MRI) I opted for no surgery... it was a long haul, but I think I made the right choice for me.

The Ice is maddeningly uncomfortable at first, but after you get used to it the pain relief is wonderful.

Mine was so bad I had to drag my left leg because it wouldn't function. I still have a little numbness in two toes, but hey... They're just toes!

Redbird, So glad that Uncle Don is free. I know all too well about the dreaded 5 year window... and holding your breath for every check-up during that time.
Go give him a big squishy *HUG* from me... Just tell him some crazy lady on the Internet is sending him healing hugs.

Both of my heart-sisters had C... one beat it (Thyroid) and one didn't (Brain). I've had a couple of brushes with C myself... One turned out to be a badly broken rib that was originally diagnosed as Bone Cancer. For 3 weeks I waited and wondered if I would see my babies grow up before the docs figured out it wasn't C. The second was a small melanoma that left me with a nifty dimple in my forearm... Thanks to the Cali sunshine.

I'll have to read more and catch up with everyone else!

It's been getting steadily worse for the last eight months. I'm not looking for pills, just to rehabilitate myself back to my former self. Thanks for the well-wishes redbird.

Robyn, welcome home!!! What beautiful pics of such a beautiful little baby. You're definitely blessed.

MK, Redbird, Robyn, and Synopsis~thank you for the well wishes. Unfortunately they don't just give me a pill. We got one of my scripts at 6 pm and I had to take SIX of them that same day. PLUS one of the pain meds. I really hate doing it and still don't feel that well with taking them, but the inflammation has got to go.

I know exactly what you mean Synopsis~I'm an exerciser, too. I do a bit of jogging and aerobics and a lot of walking. It just feels good to be somewhat in shape. Now I'll pretty much be down to walking since jumping and jogging aren't good for my discs. I was starting to get myself rehabbed pretty good until last weekend. Now I have to start over and for some strange reason, I really am going to have to push myself to get started. AND I know exactly how you're feeling. It's such an emotional let down when you're active and all of a sudden you can barely walk. Hopefully they'll be able to figure out your problem right away and fix it.

Synopsis, I hope you see a doctor very soon. If the Dr. wants you to take some pills, just take them. I hope that is all you have to do.

It is time for me to start my walking again. I was doing pretty well, then all the holiday activities seem to have me sitting around with some snacks to eat. Let's remind each other to keep at it, Jammie.
