The whole neighborhood is out there. I can hear the dispatch from the FD, but only see smog in part of the sky.

We don't get smog.  That's grassfire smoke...
From my backyard looking Southwest:
Was also lucky enough to catch this guy overhead before he veered off to the east!

Yes, I know it was smoke, I was just saying that's what it looked like. What L saw wasn't as heavy as your picture shows. I can smell wood burning.
These grass fires can get out of control real fast.
I guess I'm still used to seeing big heavy clouds of smoke, like in Ca.

we saw two grass fires when we were in ok. ive never seen one here in nj. why are they more common in ok?

Drier, more windy conditions, less humidity especially where LR and MK live, in DUNCAN, OKLAHOMA not Lawton...

There was a grass fire north of Holdenville on Monday, but the wind was not blowing hard and the fire departments kept it from spreading. We do appreciate the firemen and firewomen!
Congrats on your son, LR, and thanks for the breaking news pics. I really enjoy your great shots of birds too. They are so hard to catch in the lens, or to get any close ups.
