It's fun to hear a little Navy talk. We're retired from Tinker AFB and most of my older relatives were Air Force, so I don't know many Navy "words". Once in a while at work we'd deal with some Navy planes and I recall the acronyms. We had PACAF, the Navy had COMPACSUBCINCLANTSACEURDONDERONRON.
![]() ![]() ![]() Now we're living in western Washington, near the Bangor Trident Sub Base, the Naval Undersea Warfare Center and the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard at Bremerton. They do the same level of repair on boats that we did on jets at Tinker. I volunteer in the collections department of the Naval Undersea Museum, so I'm learning a little. In my museum, if it floats or flies, we ignore it! |

These acronyms are even getting this Army veteran "corn-fused."

J double R, Welcome aboard there squid ![]() I just caught onto all the jackjawing going on this page. Hope your enjoying your stay in the USN. I'm a 21 year man myself with the SeaBees, none of that sea going garb for me , I like having my feet on hard ground. The funny part is that the only time I had ever stepped foot on a Navy ship was when I was in the Army, go figure. I was stationed in Hawaii at Scholfield Baracks and got a ride on the USS Denver to Kaho'Olawe island. I think they got a little mad at me when I asked them what kind of boat it was. A PO1 told me that it was a "SHIP" and it was a (LST). So I asked if (LST) stood for Large Slow Target. Oops, that didn't go over to well . |

A video which reminds me of my own grandpa. Always worked hard his whole life. That's how I remember my grandpa.
