You guys are SO lucky to already have things starting to bloom. But it looks like there might be some ice in your direction tomorrow. That's got to be the absolute worst. It's awful up here right now though, too. We're WAY too cold to have sleet or freezing rain. The windchill is 37 below here this morning.

We had ice here last weekend too, but it was short lived. It really isn't that much of a problem... the ice can actually be like a 'blanket' to protect things if they haven't bloomed yet.

Our second year here a hailstorm rolled through right after my Wisteria bloomed and totally TRASHED it... (I have pics) The third year we had a late freeze that turned all of the blooms black and they rotted off. I've got my fingers crossed for this year though!!

I have a few daffodils starting to come out. With all the rain we have had, we should have a good spring show of blooms on the trees. Just about a month or less to go and we will be in spring.

Last week of may: warm, everything goes from dead to fully leafed and green within 2 days, flat.
June: Hot and humid.

Jammie,
I'm a "Topix" news Editor for online news in a few towns. One of them is my hometown in Michigan.
I noticed that they were having an "Ice shanty contest". What they do is sit an ice fishing shanty on the lake(on about 1ft of ice) and people guess the time and date that the shanty will fall through.
Do they have anything like that in SD? Or is there much ice fishing?
