Default Shawnee pictures

I was in Shawnee yesterday, and remembered someone asking for Shawnee pics. It was rainy, and my DH thinks the dashboard of his truck is a desk, and I was by myself (violins playing) so I apologize for the quality.

Highway 9 heading west.

The Grisso mansion in Seminole.

Heading into Shawnee from the south.

Shawnee Mills. This is where my cornbread mix comes from.

More of Shawnee Mills.

Downtown Shawnee and stores. Heading East.

It would be fun to be in the play, "The Outsiders."

I like the brick streets. Some of the buildings have Christmas lights on them. I think it would be very pretty at night.

And Shawnee adds the ME! I remember that from the old days! The old Shawnee Mills commercials. I wish I could find them on youtube or somewhere.

It went something like. It's as easy as 1-2-3, and Shawnee adds the ME..

Great pics Peggy. Shawnee looks like a nice town. I actually lived there at one time. Not very long. I was working in OkC and rented a room from an older lady in Shawnee. Soon after that I joined the Army.

Shawnee Milling Company

From a hundred pound bag of Shawnee Flour years and years and years ago.

Chili with beans and Shawnee Mills cornbread. YUM.

East side of Shawnee businesses and houses.

Obligatory picture of railroad depot & museum.

I wonder if that boxing club is still in business.

Heading north on Harrison.

The rock wall on the right is the cemetery. This part of town has all the chains, and the Vo-Tech.

Shawnee apartments.

Shawnee traffic.

For pictures of the people and celebrations in and around Shawnee check out the Shawnee's Local News Source They have a great Photo Gallery. In fact You could probably submit these photos to their Gallery. I want to go home. I have a couple of photos I made on my last visit to Shawnee in ' 03 I'll have to try to find them.

Last bunch.

Heading west on 40 now. This is the Shawnee mall. It has quite a few big stores like Dillards, J C Pennys, Sears, American Eagle, Red Lobster etc.

More Shawnee Mall

Chain restaurants and the Lowes on the highway.

You can barely see the roofs of the houses in the new home area. This would be on the Northwest side of Shawnee, west of the mall etc. Oklahoma City is west of here on I-40.

More newer houses. Sorry, didn't have time to fiddle with the zoom.

Firelake Casino west of Shawnee. I'll be glad when the construction is over for their exit. Right here I was in a rolling roadblock, which was interesting.

Cool pics Peg. You really get around don't you! You're supposed to make funny commentaries to go with the pics.

I am having a tremendous urge to CROP some of your pics, though.

Thanks for the pics Peggy. I've never been there, just drive by on the highway. Its quite a bit larger than I thought.
I use Shawnee Mills cornbread mix too, but I've never had chili with cornbread, just crackers. Its that much better, huh?
