Occasionally if my Dad wasn't home, my Mother would switch it to Lawrence Welk . She loved big band music.

We all loved Red Skelton in our house. I can still see the twinkle in his eye...

Those are nice memories. Most of the time we watched these shows as a family. We weren't split up in to different parts of the house doing different things.
A different time, for sure. Lawrence Welk was a big favorite in our house as well. Of course as a kid I didn't appreciate it but can today, even though I'm not hugely into big band music.

We used to dance the polka in our living room with our parents while watching Lawrence Welk.

I cannot recall which western series we watched on Thursday. But I do remember some people who complained that lengthy church services were causing them to miss the beginning of Bonanza.

I like to watch Big Joe's Polka on RFD. Anybody watch that channel? Its 379 on Directv. Pretty funny to watch those people polka. Looks like good exercise too.

Hee Hee, Haw Haw was a bit much for me. Of course I was a little rugrat then and could not relate to Mimi with the price tag still stuck on her hat. That show was like Petticoat Junction on steroids.

I remember staying home from school a couple of times and hearing the whistling of Andy Griffith and the Dick Van Dyke show. But if we ever stayed home from school sick, my mom wouldn't let us watch TV.

Those were great westerns!

A few yrs. ago I worked in the loan dept. of a local bank & we were playing a version of name that tune by humming & whistling different theme songs for many of those shows you mentioned. (Apparently we had too much time on our hands ) But, it's something that stays with you over the yrs.

When I was a kid we watched Big Valley too - I can't remember when that aired. My husband liked the Rifleman but I think that was on in earlier yrs.(black & white days). Ooh, another favorite of mine was High Chaparral.

Well, enough reminiscing here....

bjb123, I ran across this site last night while looking for music our 2 yr old grand-daughter might like.

It has ALL of the old theme songs from just about any show you can think of! I got "lost" listening to old tunes for over an hour.

Television Tunes

I just love the theme song from Underdog! hee hee

It has all of the shows you mentioned too.

"The bluest sky you ever seen, in Seattle..." I loved that show! I had some serious crushes on the 'brothers' too.
