Back in July Peggy posted one of those "You might be an Okie if..." lists and one of them mentioned the B.C. Clark jingle. If you're a displaced Okie and don't get to hear it on TV or the radio, go to bcclark.com and listen to it. There's a whole media center where you can download it, watch videos, etc. Also a group of uplifting stories about jingle memories.
I miss Oklahoma and it's been a sad week for some other reasons, but listening to the jingle made me smile through my tears. |

Sorry for your troubles, Cindycat.
I heard the jingle for the first time this year yesterday, and of course I sang along smiling all the time. I usually don't get OKC radio here. Jewelry is the gift to give... |

I wish that old Shawnee Mills commercial was available. Remember, "Its as easy as 1-2-3, and Shawnee adds the ME."
Or, does anyone remember the old OTASCO (Oklahoma Tire and Supply Co.) jingles, especially around Christmas time? Otasco was much more than a tire and supply company; it was pretty much a combination of todays ACE hardware store and Target all rolled into one. I think they have long since gone under.

I remember the Shawnee Mills commercial. I don't really remember to OTASCO jingle, but didn't they have a great little advertising magazine with all the toys in it?

I LOVED the OTASCO catalogs that came out around Christmas. Their commercials on TV always featured "Oliver the artful dodger" and were very well done.

I used to study those catalogs very intensely.

I remember the Shawnee and the OTASCO commercials. OTASCO always seemed so big to me as a little kid. I remember always picking out bikes I wanted while my parents waited for help on stuff.

I Googled Otasco and got a link to tulsatvmemories.com but I couldn't get it to open. Otasco went out of business in late 1988. We bought a refrigerator there in early 1987 and ordered an extra shelf. When it came in, the salesman brought it to us but didn't know how much it cost. He never got back to us and the little store in Midwest City closed that year.
Earlier I was talking about being sad and I appreciate the kind comments. On December 8 we lost a sweet old kitty to cancer. She'd been with us 13 years and one day. Two days later was when we found out about all the ice damage to our old home and our friends in OKC/MWC. I miss Oklahoma. It had just all piled on at once. I'm glad I found the Oklahoma forums so I can visit and reminisce with you. Merry Christmas and always remember the jingle. |
