I just got a long, legal-ese letter of an "Application to Vacate" from the people who are drilling on our mineral rights property in Hughes County. It sounds like they want to relocate their operation, as far as I can tell. The question is, why would they need to file an application to do so with the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, if that is indeed what it is. My luck, it was probably the only 100 acres in Hughes County where they DID NOT find any oil or gas in three years...

I would not claim to be knowledgeable, but does it say vacate an order about pooling, location exception, or spacing unit or something like that?

These terms are about situations where natural gas is present under several different properties with different owners, but the well is being drilled on one property. So if they want to vacate an order about one of those, it does not mean they are going to vacate the property. Where your mineral interests are, they doing some type of horizontal drilling.

Considering what might be at stake, I would consult an experienced attorney who specializes in oil & gas.

Vacate the property? You mean "they" are wanting the landowners to move off their land?

Please keep us posted, Synopse.

No, Redbird, they can't make you do that. All I know is what I have picked up on various jobs in OK. It is surprising how much you learn by being an "administrative assistant".

I was thinking, Synopsis, why not just call the company and ask them what is going on? I don't see any reason they should mind telling you.

That's not a bad idea. But I don't really care. They've been on that property for nearly 3 years and I have not seen one red cent of money. They are either pocketing the money, or are a bunch of fools that sits on a property for three years and doesn't find any oil or gas. I smell a racket. I'm going to have to ask my bros and sisters what they think. They all are supposed to get the same percentage as me and they haven't even mentioned it. Maybe they are getting money and not telling me? Naw..

Well something must be going on with this lease. I just got a letter from West Elite Royalty (in OKC) that "says" they are offering $1,000.00 per mineral acre to purchase my mineral interest in the property in Hughes County. Since there are 8 of us, my portion is about 11.5 acres (crude math). I'm wondering if this is legit. I'm also wondering how you can look up the location on the map. I have the Township number, Range, and Section. I'm getting confused!
