What's a pocket door?

That's 2 doors that slide into the wall in opposite directions.
My Grandfather in Robinsonville, Quebec had them. It would still be considered "retro-cool". ![]() |

Oh, we had one of those in the house where I was rasied in NJ. We just didn't call them pocket doors. I think my mom referred to them as "sliding doors." I liked them. They were classy

You lose about 2" of wall space on either side when all is said and done, but the coolness makes up for it. Does that place you're going to look at in Arcadia have those? Make sure they work "smoothly"!

I don't know, but I would be happy if they do. I would like those again. I just hope that house has been maintained because it is quite old. DH is a little concerned about its age. We'll see. I just wish the realtor could come up with more like that. There has to be other houses in the area that aren't in a development!

The house seems to be a good deal for its area. I have been wondering about the reason for what seems to me a low price. Maybe it is just the age of the house.

According to the website it was reduced. I don't know what it was before, though.

Sometimes the sellers start out with the house priced way too high. When they finally decide to reduce the price all the lookers have gone elsewhere.

I agree with that. We're going to put our house up for sale when we come back from OKC. Some people mentioned putting it up a little high to "see what happens." I can't see the point in that. Most of your activity comes in the first few weeks. Even if you reduce later and the realtors call those people back, they've already mentally dismissed your house as overpriced and in most cases don't want to pursue it. I prefer to place a lower end price on it and get rid of it. Of course my neighbors might not be happy with it because there are still houses for sale in my neighborhood with price stickers that you haven't be able to get for almost a year.

I have been watching some places in my area with 80+ acres that have been sitting on the market. The prices on those houses are just "to see what happens," or to see if someone from Texas or California will show up.
