Shhhh! We have to stop being so nice and supportive here. I was on the NJ forum earlier today and boy! those people get NASTY. We have to remember to stop tell everyone (CG & I) how happy we are to be looking forward to relocating to OK. Let's leave the riff raff behind.

Oh, I don't know, ComputerGuy. Most of the people you are leaving aren't the kind to want to live in Oklahoma anyway. I have lived around some riff raff in Oklahoma though, so they are not unknown here.

I haven't seen the NJ forum, but I have NO problem believing you...
The NH forum is nothing to write home about either....
Otherwise, I'd be there trying to sell my house.
Only 2 of my friends know we're going to be Okies...
I won't tell anyone else until the house here sells.

I think you're right on BOTH counts....
But NH was a great place until it was taken over by a bunch of people from MA, NY, NJ, RI, VT, CT... etc. I've only been up North here for about 6.5 years, and it's changed a LOT (not for the better) compared to when we first got up here.
So I'm sure you can understand why Colleen and I want to keep OK a secret.
(Like that's possible...)

We'll just keep talking about tornadoes, ice storms, droughts, floods, summer heat, wildfires, bugs, religious beliefs, conservative values, and all the other things that will discourage the riff raff.

Just watch us Californians coming back there...Over on the Arkansas forum they're not too keen about all the Californian's moving back there...Someone even mentioned not bringing our "Californian ways" with us...LOL I had my first argument over on that fourm...
I don't understand our "California ways" remarks as most of here are from other states! My parents moved out before I was born from Arkansas...I can eat cornbread and fried okra wth the best of them!

Arkansans are friendly, but they do tend to keep a little more to themselves. I lived there in 1980/81 and although the people are friendly, they are generally more suspicious of newcomers. I had a hard time making friends there my own age. But, once people got to know me and found out I was from Oklahoma they were just fine. They definitely have their antenna up on anything from California though.

Funny thing is when I mentioned moving to Oklahoma on the New Jersey forum one person said "I hope you're ready to be saved. That's all they do out there. They're religious fanatics. I couldn't get through the Tulsa airpoirt without someone shoving a Bible in my face." Leave it to a New Jerseyan to feel intimidated by the Bible. lol

Isn't a bible (to the stereo-typical New Jerseyan) like garlic to a Vampire?
I know 7 former NJ folks, so I only base that statement upon my own experience...
I wasn't trying to " generalize" or indict... I'm sure your mileage will have varied.
(Please notice that I smiled when I said that.)

Well, maybe to a certain extent, because New Jersey is predominately Catholic, and the Catholics for years didn't encourge reading of the Bible. It was felt the layman couldn't interpret it correctly. That might be where that stereotype came from. But I'm really guessing here.
