Hi spinwheel We also have ATT DSL... Do you have a modem that looks like this?
(probably without the red label that i was too lazy to remove. )
If so you should see a button on the back where all of the lines go in:
It is marked O/|
Next time it starts flashing red at you, push that button (it will pop out slightly) count to ten and push it back in. It will find the signal again in a few seconds and everything should be fine.
Ours never stops working completely but it does bog down sometimes till it crawls. Re-booting the modem always clears it right up.
Haven't any of the tech people mentioned that?? Nevermind... I forgot we were talking about ATT...

If it works after a few days each month,
regardless of what you do, it's on their end...
It's on their end.
Tell them to fix it or ELSE!!!

I am going to reply to each post - and I appreciate you guys trying to help.
LadyRobyn- Yes, My DSL is like the one in the picture and I have tried many times to turn it off, wait, turn it back on. When it is having its hissy fit, it does not good.
Computer Guy - Since I don't have much choice, if any, on telephone service - Fix it or else What?? I have been trying to find another ISP but Southwestern Bell had the monopoly on our phone service in this small town and surrounding area. Then came AT&T. I am thinking of wireless if I can afford it. Very few things I hate but at the top of the list is AT&T.

Yes, you are pretty much in a bind these days with companies monopolizing the market. You can say, "Fix it or else!" but what you'll get is the "else" and not the "fix it."
Then, you're left out in the cold without any service. It's a sad situation.

You certainly have that right. If I had a choice, I would be gone from AT&T and their techies than can not speak American English. They really stress me out because I am hearing impaired. I do most every communication on the computer. But AT&T wants to use the telephone.

Are you in Tulsa Spinwheel? If so, I am surprised because I thought Tulsa would have a lot of other options.

I have "CableOne". They provide all 3 services and as far as I've seen, they're all over TX, Ok, Kas, MO, and Ky.
