Try what I suggested... it should bring back your start bar and everything...

It isn't that uncommon of a problem especially after uninstalling certain virus programs or installing new patches and service packs.

Okay, they are back, but I didn't get a chance to use your way. I ctr-alt-del, then NEW TASK ran virus and the stupid thing tried to say my virus protection is out of date.

And do you know why? Because I clicked "don't download/install until I tell it to" so, apparently my computer threw a hissie fit.

I am still getting the red "virus protection out of date" icon on my status bar.

It all started with that stupid service pak3. For some reason, I don't like for my computer to download updates on its own.

hmm, I will remember your way because if I were to reboot/restart my computer right now, I am sure I would not have any icons.

Thank you synopse and LR. You two MODS rock.

No YOU rock redbird!

Download the free Avast antivirus software as well as COMODO Firewall. These are the two best software programs that I have ever found; they are highly recommended by our resident computer expert Computerguy.

And believe me, they work GREAT!

Yeah, I http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h61/jimeezlady/smileees/heart.gif (broken link) you too little brother. I hope it stays fixed, if not let me know and we will pull out the BIG guns! (I'll go wake up the son...he's a certified computer techie. )

I still haven't downloaded svc pack 3... I got spooked after I found out some people had serious issues with it depending on which brand of processor they had in their comp. They have probably got it sorted by now, but I am a chikken.

Our resident computer expert Computerguy is the bomb. He ROCKS! Even I knew that.

(He is also in stealth mode, looking out over poor little lost okies in need of 'puter help.)

You can leave it on. Windoze sucks but COMODO will make sure it can't do you any harm. Make sure and download Avast as well.

Those two programs are about the best out there, free or not.

Computerguy KNOWS his bizness, believe me, even though he is in stealth mode.

Those two programs are some of the best out there, regardless of cost or no. I'm glad that Commodo has helped you. I've been running it for months and have ZERO problems since it was installed. And it's FREE! They are the best values out there. Computerguy KNOWS his stuff folks!
