My god, Jessaka, sounds like someone tore your computer UP!
I am FOR SURE not getting vista now. Not even a Dell! I think I will have someone put one together like CG said. I would put that puter together and sell it and get yourself another one.
Want to trade?
Jessaka, I have all my Dell startup discs that have all the accessoires, etc on them. My DELL came a lady at work who's son works for DELL. He gets her a brand new one every year. So she sold me this one really cheap. But anyways I have all the discs that came with it. Not sure if that would help you or not.

Click on the START button, then click on "All Programs" and scroll up to the "Accessories" folder. I have Vista and it's in mine, it's just different than in XP. I think I'm going to load Linux on mine this weekend, with Computer-Guy's help. Speaking of which, I have not seen him around here in a couple of days. CG, where are you!

you have "accessories"
If you don't have "accessories", then how did you get to "system Restore" the first time when it didn't work?
There are different ways to get there,,,,if that's where your going.
"Control panel", "performance and maintance", and "system"

Yeah, I found it. It was there all the time. but it doesn't give me an option other than December 26, and I had it restored on the 25th.

Did you pick, "create a restore point" or "restore to an earlier date"? if you picked "picked create a restore point", try the other or visa versa.
"restore to an ealier date" should have a calender next to it.

I didn't see create a restore point only restore to an earlier date, and the earlier date was dec 26. what they did on the 24 or 25 was restore it to how it came out of the factory.
