It can be the Okie diet forum, and we will mention where in Oklahoma we do our exercise.
Sugar is an addictive thing to me. Over the holidays I got tempted & now I am 5 lbs heavier, as if I could afford that. If you go for a while without it, you will stop craving it.
I am going to exercise for 30 minutes each day, and cut out the sweets and high fat foods, eat veggies and fruits, complex carbs, and proteins. I will set my first goal at 10 lbs.

Well, the journals aren't really what I thought. They post what they've eaten. (good idea), but they throw in other "chat". Why don't you guys look and see what you think? Do you want to keep it here?
redbird, I meant to tell you (re:goals), my goal is to make a healthy lifestyle change every week or so. They say it takes 3 weeks for a change to become a lifestyle change. I thought maybe every week, having a small change, like, having 1 vegetarian dinner a week, then continue with different changes, just add to it. It's too overwhelming for me to go full force and change everything on the 1st.

I like your recommendation for the name. Okie Diet Forum, here we go.
What exercise are you going to do Peggy? Let's also share tasty but healthy recipes. I got a smoothie maker because I love smoothies.

I'm in, too!
Boy are we a bunch of fatties! I lost 45 lbs three years ago and kept it off until about a year ago. Now I've gained back 20 lbs of it. Boo. The problem is, I did it on the South Beach Diet, but I've tried using that diet again twice in the last 6 months and it no longer works. I need to try something else, but I'm not into starving. I tried the vegetarian thing for 6 weeks and didn't lose an ounce.
Anna needs to lose weight, too, and we've made a pact to start once we get back from OKC on the 6th. Someone please post what type of eating works for you that helps you to lose weight. I can't face doing the SBD again knowing it didn't work the last two times I tried it. Stuck with it for 8 weeks and didn't lose an ounce.

I lost 30 lbs on a strict low carb diet a year ago. I do not like meats and fats that much though, potatoes and pasta, bread and rice are my downfalls. I think I will go back to that. No sugar, bread, anything made with flour, rice etc.
For my exercise I do yard work when the weather is OK. I got in a good hour of huffing and puffing yesterday. Otherwise I do brisk walking, or in bad weather, stair climbing.

From what I've looked into on them, low carb diets aren't particularly a healthy route to go. Also, many healthy things to eat are in carbohydrate-based foods, such as fruits and grains. Balance and moderation is probably wise.

SBD relies on "healthy" carbs. But the first two weeks you are very restricted. It's during the first two weeks that you're supposed to lose between 8 and 13 lbs. I did the restrictive first two weeks (called Phase I) for four weeks and didn't lose anything. Then I went to the Phase II, where you start eating some healthy carbs (fruits, whole grains, etc.), and I still didn't lose anything. It worked so well the first time, I'm really frustrated with it.
Years ago I did the Carboydrate Addict Diet and that worked. Maybe I'll try that again. I would like to do Nutri System or Jenny Craig, but they're expensive. I spent most of my adult life dieting or gaining back.

My diet still will have cereals, but the healthy ones, not the sugary ones. I will also eat fruits and all kinds of vegetables. I guess mine is not THAT strict. I don't care if a vegetable is classed as a "starchy vegetable" or not.
Different diets work for different people. My daughter lost about 60 lbs with Weight Watchers, but you have to go to the meetings. She has kept it off for more than a year now.

I resolved to not resolve. Horrible isn't it? I prefer short term resolutions. Easier to complete them that way.
