Boy, and was it a lot of work! We didn't like anything we saw. Anna was even more upset about the "developments" than I was. They all seemed so crowded in on each other. Called my second realtor when we got back and he gave us a few to look over that weren't in developments. They looked a little better, so we're seeing the inside of them tomorrow. DH is adamant about either Yukon or Mustang, so our choices are limited because there are really a LOT of developments in those towns. We really like both of those towns (Mustang probably a little better). Anna really wants more of a rural area, and Mustang seems a little bit more so.
I'm getting a little stressed because we only have two days left. Oh well, time to let it all go and just relax for the night. Looking forward to seeing whoever is able to come tomorrow at 1:30 at Cattleman's.

I would never be able to pick out a house in that time frame. You are making progress though! Don't know what your price range is, but it looks like quite a few places with 1/2 acre or more that "might" fit.
Get a good nights rest, and see you tomorrow!

I can't make it to the luncheon tomorrow but hope that you all have a great time. Whatever happened to that house in the small town outside of OkC colleen? Have you had a chance to explore any of the smaller cities right outside OkC? Have a great time tomorrow; wish I was there!

colleen, ask your realtor to look up MLS #308869. the address is 12001 SW 44 in Mustang. A brief Realtors description is "Very nice home on 5 acres with 36' X 77' horse barn 5 stalls with living quarters in barn." listed for under $150,000.
or look at MLS #: 297943, 240 N GREGORY ROAD, Yukon. The Realtors description says "BRAND NEW ROOF!Restful rural and city accessible. Unique 'well loved' home on 5.625 acres with mature trees. Quiet and serene environment. 15 min. to OKC, downtown Yukon, Piedmont or El Reno. " About $180,000
MLS #: 309057 is a manufactured home on 5.2 acres, at 2960 BANNER RD NW in Piedmont. But at $130,000 is worth considering. Comments "BACKS TO POND! 20 X 32 WORKSHOP (OR GARAGE) WITH OVERHEAD DOOR. GREAT, GREAT SHAPE. LARGE ROOMS. MASTER SUITE HAS WALK-IN CLOSET, WHIRLPOOL TUB AND SEP SHOWER. LIVING ROOM HAS CORNER FIREPLACE. UNRESTRICTED AREA IN PIEDMONT SCHOOL DISTRICT. OK FOR HORSES. STORM CELLAR, FENCED AND CROSS FENCED."
and in the same town, 1705 NW APACHE, MLS #: 297981, 5.0 acres with Comments "LARGE MASTER BED, HOME HAS NEW CARPET, NEW WOOD FLOOR, NEW HEATPUMP,NEW FRENCH DOORS, COVERED CARPORT, WORKSHOP WITH APARTMENT UPSTAIRS, LIVESTOCK BARN, TREES AND MUCH MORE" and it is about $198,000.
ask your Realtor about them. If there is a problem, give me a call and I can help arrange showings. I think I posted my phone number in a DM to you some time back. Unfortunately I have to be in Pryor on Friday, but I could meet with you Saturday.

I have never joined the commute to OKC from the west side, but have always heard that is some HEAVY traffic. I hope your DH isn't commuting to OKC on a daily basis.
Have you looked at Bethany? Good luck on finding a house. I know it must be stressful, and don't settle for something just because you are in a hurry!
I will say a prayer and let the okie spirits guide you to a good home.

I worked way north, and had to listen to the radio every morning before I left because of that. No one was happier than I was when they built the new turnpike.

Colleen....Have you looked in Piedmont? It's not far from Yukon and I thought the whole area looked the same...It was hard for me to tell which town I was going though....Piedmont has lots of open spaces, the negative I guess would be driving so far to go shop...

Thank you all so much for your input. DH doesn't know where he will be working, but is looking in the OKC area. For some reason he was stuck on Mustang and Yukon. After seeing the two areas he is happy with his choice. I liked them both, as well, and as I said before, Mustang appeals to me more because the area we looked in was more rural. I like the idea of Piedmont, but he thinks it might be too far.
Goodpasture, I'll DM you about your post.
We have decided that we won't be pressured into buying something we may not be happy with. If we dont' come up with something now, we will just wait it out and keep checking online. I know this is not the best time to either buy or sell a house because the winter months are always very slow. We may have to wait a bit and one of us fly down in a month or so when things open up. But, we still have two more days, so you never know.
BTW, we were out in the Yukon/Mustang area looking for an address and decided it was one of those "you can't get there from here" type situations. We flagged down an OKC maintenance truck and asked for help in finding the house we were looking for. He told us to follow him and he would lead us there. It took about 15 minutes over various country roads to get us where we needed to be, and we could not believe that someone would go through that trouble for strangers!!! What a shock. We kept commenting to each other about how we never saw anything like that before. Amazing.
Then we went to dinner at a Chinese Buffet and sat next to a lovely family that Anna struck up a conversation with. Turns out they are life long Mustang residents and went on and on about how much they like it there. DH was VERY convinced that he was right about holding out for that area. They were a very nice family and we enjoyed talking to them. Also -- our dinner check last night was half of what we paid for a dinner for the three of us on Christmas Eve in NJ and tonight's dinner was half what we paid last night.
And everyone we meet still seems very happy.
Again, thanks for all the input and advice. We'll get through this, and invite y'all for a barbeque in our new backyard come summer.

You should usually go to the Chinese Buffets for lunch......it only runs about $5 or $6 that way. Go at night and you will end up spending $16 to $20 for a dinner for two.

I'd like to see what New Jersey Barbeque is all about. ..........btw, which y'all did you mean? or were you wanting to say "all y'all"?
Tomorrow at Cattleman's, try some lamb fries (as an appetizer).....they aren't as good as calf or hog fries, but they aren't bad.
