Redbird, I'm 1/32 NDN. My problem is that I simply love to eat. Now, Oprah would say I have "issues" I haven't faced, but I'm open about pretty much everything. Dr. Phil says you dont have to have willpower, but I really don't believe that. What I know is that we grew up celebrating everything with copious amounts of delicious, but fried foods! Today looks like a tempting day to stay in and pig out. Oatmeal here I come. I really fell off the wagon yesterday because in Norman yesterday I went out for lunch, and it was too tempting. I should have had the grilled fish!
Jess, I am reading 1000 Splendid Suns for the book club. Such a good book. Today will be a good reading day. Last edited by peggydavis; 01-22-2008 at 09:22 AM. Reason: added |

Here's something you may want to consider. How about fresh juice? I have a juicer at home, and I've used it for apples, carrots, oranges, greens, beets, celery, cranberries, pineapple and strawberries, just to name a few. I need to do it more often, and I've been real lax with it lately. But I would make a glass of carrot and apple juice and it provides the nutrients and enzymes that processed and cooked foods can't. What you can do is prepare and consume a glass of fresh juice to supplement the other foods you eat each day. It's the juice that does all of the feeding. I've even juiced a cantaloupe many times, sliced and with the skin on. That's right. With the skin on. Believe it or not, the very thing that you and I often throw away ends up having more nutrition than the said melon with the skin peeled off. Both accomplish good nutrition. And so it is with a cantaloupe. Imagine, cantaloupe juice straight. It is the stuff of life!

You are right case. The juices you buy in the store are often all pre-processed and mostly sugar. But if you juice things "from scratch" they have a much higher nutrient value and no added sugars as well. Great post!

That is a good idea, case. I will have to try that with a cantaloupe. That and stay away from onion burgers & onion rings.

That is a great idea case! cantaloupe with the skin on, though? It's that good huh? I just bought a smoothie maker. I guess that wouldnt work, huh?

The smoothie maker probably couldn't handle the skin of the cantaloupe because it is too tough. What kind of smoothies have you made so far, Jess?
I'm going to look at these juicers. They are more expensive so I need to think about how much I will really use it. I know a couple who raise a very big garden and do a lot of juicing. They are really healthy people and say it is because of the juice. Of course, they are living a healthy lifestyle in so many ways it is hard to tell what is making them so healthy. |

Ya, I don't think they ever eat an onion burger!
![]() Of course, if you can't eat onion burgers once in a while, what's the use of living? |

This is TRUE! One of the joys of life is good food.
