I am considering moving to Muskogee in the near future. I was wondering if there is a better side of town compared to another. I wouldn't want to move into a place that was not in a very nice neighborhood. Any suggestions?

There are nice areas on the west side, but generally the east side is considered best.

Thank you. I appreciate the advice. Is the crime there as bad as the stats say it is?

Not in my opinion because all I know is what is in the newspaper. The shootings reported are nearly always in a part of town I wouldn't want to live in.

I understand. The stats for my town look worse than what you will actually experience on any given day. Thank you for all of your responses.

A lot of people don't like Muskogee because it looks run down and the crime rate is certainly not low. Why don't more people ask about moving to better towns in Oklahoma, such as Bartlesville, Enid, and Stillwater?

Wink Great Community

Muskogee is a wonderful community. I moved here from Tulsa about 9 years ago and have never regretted my decision. Our boys are doing wonderfully in the public school system and there has never been a moment that I have felt unsafe. A lot of the violent crimes that you see in the crime statistics are actually domestic assault cases and do not affect the outside community.

The cost of living in Muskogee is considerably low compared to the rest of the state and there are a number of nice homes available for rent or sale in great neighborhoods.

I hope that you and your family make the choice to relocate!
