For example: I don't know how you could like Johnny and not also like Waylon. Besides all the great outlaw stuff, there's also what I'd like to call "Alternative Country". Stuff like Steve Earle, Son Volt, Wilco, Whiskeytown, to name a few off the top of my head.
You might be surprised just how much really interesting and creative country music is out there when you don't limit yourself to top 40 radio.
Just my 2 cents.

I wouldn't discount what you say...
I didn't learn to like Johnny Cash until our keyboard / guitarist
started playing Folsom Prison Blues during a gig,
and we all jumped in...
(Came off pretty well... It was a slightly more heavy version.)
The North Country crowd went totally nuts.
I came to appreciate his other material afterwards.
And while I can't imagine ever becoming a country fan,
I wouldn't say it couldn't happen....
I absolutely hated Bob Dylan until I was 40....
Now I love the stuff.... Go figure.
(Must be getting old!)

Be careful!
You might want to rephrase that. I hope I'm wrong,
but that sounds like an insult.

The way I see it, there's "real" music in every different style. Country, Rock, Blues, Jazz, etc... It's just sometimes hard to find the real good stuff!

Roy Clark has a home in Tulsa and it's been his home for many years, even though he was born in Virginia.
