I can do heat, I can do humidity, but something about the heat and humidity here is pretty bad. But I am still enjoying it here. Cheers!

Well, not exactly "Cool" but definitely Cooler! I guess we forgot to mention that we were sizzling under 103-106F degree temps while you were lounging on a snow capped mountain in UT.

Glad you made it here safe and sound. I hope you get settled quickly and make lots of friends. (I don't think you will have any problems in that department. )

Casey, so good to hear from you. As LR said we've had some pretty nasty temps lately. Too bad Stillwater is so far from Mustang, or you could stop by for a swim.

So glad you're keeping us posted. Us older folks are enjoying living the college experience through your eyes.

Hey, Nameless, when do you start school? Aren't you going to SNU? Are you living on campus, or commuting? Your turn to spill.

Hopefully I'll get used to the temps here. Until then I'll just keep the fan in my room on full blast.

Default OSU/Stillwater, OK

Casey,
While in high school I attended MANY scholastic and public speaking events at OSU. It was my choice for college until i ended up pregnant my junior year. That changed everything for me but did not change the campus. The city of Stillwater is a really nice place and very much so routed to college students. Its the home of Eskimo Joes which is a good place to eat and a great place to hang out! My cousin graduated from there just a few years ago and he LOVED it!!
Although it may be somewhat of a culture shock to you in the beginning... I would recommend giving it a try! Everyone is very friendly
Good luck to you!

So if anyone could tell me what Oklahoma or more specifically Stillwater and Oklahoma State University are like that would be great! Cheers!

I see the high in Stillwater today was around 86 fahrenheit. Casey, that is "cool" relative to the normal for this time of the year, which is probably a good 10 degrees hotter. The humidity and summer temps in Oklahoma can be quite brutal, but nowhere near as bad as where I live (in Texas) or Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, or Florida..

Don't worry though, you'll adjust. You're young!

So here's a situation that I have been getting a lot of interesting responses about. Oklahoma is way different from Maryland and I really like that. I like that it is much more rural then Maryland. So is it wrong to tell people that I love it when they say "yall" or tell them I like their country accent? I really like this different culture/style of living. But most people get upset or offended when I tell them that I like the way they talk or what they say. Advice?

My advice: let them get to know you first before you comment on their accent, etc. Even though you are sincere in your appreciation of all things OK, they may see it as a condescending statement. Once they get to know you, that little bit of defensiveness will most likely disappear.
