Default bugs and critters??

afternoon folks, question, i grew up west of tulsa in the sticks(cleveland/terlton area) and i recall so many bugs and critters. from cottenmouths and copperheads, to scorpians and trantulas, and those nasty gator turtles and everything in between. few years back, i went to visit a uncle north of cleveland, also in the sticks, and i dont recall seeing as much bugs and such there as i did where i was at, maybe a 30 mile differance between, and i have family in sulpulpa, edge of town starten in the sticks, and they didnt seem to have problem either, now im looken at bringen my family to oklahoma to live, and even thou im used to bugs, they arent, we are in tennessee now, and thou they say the stuff is here, we havent seen it, but then our neighbors have tons of cats and chickens to take care of them, my question is, thou im used to bugs, i dont want to live smack in middle of scorpions and trantulas and snakes if possiable, but we dont want to live right in city, need my trees and green grass and quiet, can anyone offer up areas in eastern OK that are less populated by these critters then others, or which areas seem to have more to avoid?? and before anyone gives me a hard time...lol, yes, i know there will be bugs, i grew up there(read start of my post) i just dont want to deal with what i did growen up so much(like trantualas on kitchen table, scorpions in shoes and runnen across tile, and cotten mouth in cabinets(that one was at neighbors), and yes, we lived in nice homes, so wasnt a matter of shacks the stuff swarmed to either. thanks to all who reply, have a good one!!

We live in Terlton and don't have too much trouble with bugs. Our 10 acres, I am sure, is populated with snakes and bugs but between the dogs (2 of which are Jack Russells and great snake hunters) and the chicken and guinneas we are relatively bug free.

The only thing is chiggers in high grass. Before the pigs went to freezer camp they would escape from time to time and we would have to chase them through the high grass. If we weren't covered up we'd get bitten, but that itch only lasts a few days

Let us know if and when you decide to move back to Terlton area!

I am not sure about the level of sex offense these guys have .... if I remember correctly it was exposure. Bad enough but could have been worse.

The school has been demolished, sadly. They did, however, find a time capsule from the 30s. The contents is on display in the General Store. Not owned by the Tillys .... but by 2 great people named John and Latina. Last name escapes me at the moment.

I thought the human population was a bit more than 86 but it is true that goats and chickens outnumber the people around here.

Yes on Frog Rock and yes on auctions. There are 2 in Jennings alone.

Come on back home!!!

i cant wait!!! i was so saddend about the school being torn down, i knew i should have took a pic when i visited last, will have to have my folks dig out albums and see if they can dig up some, i know they got a few of us at school, etc. man oh man...what memories there, i can still recall it room by room....lol, and best of all was terlton day...everyone would gather at the school, bring food, some had a little band that would play music way into the night, greased pole races, tons of other stuff for kids, ball games, stuff for adults...omg, it was the best!!!! made me cry a bit to hear its gone, but the time capsule thing sounds neat, will have to have alook when i come home for good.
2 auctions in jennings now? there used to be only the one, come thru town from terlton, take a right, onleft side of street. i actually miss a good auction....lol. thank you so much for he updates on town...me and another gal i went to school with met up on web, and never hear from anyone there, was wondering if internet wasnt a thing there or something...lol
you didnt say how long ya have lived there? do ya know the hightowers or the renoylds? they have been there forever and are good people. i recall most of terlton(back then) was mainly made up of the Tilly/baker family, and i hear ya....i think critters for sure outnumbered folks....lol.

Sorry .... we have been here about 4 years .... we live 1 mile due south of the postoffice.

Tillys are still here .... Steve lives down the road from me and takes care of a herd of cows across the road here.

The auction in downtown Jennings is more of a social event, but the other one is owned by Tommie Mills and is right across Rt 99 from CLub 99 Road. That one is great ... he has some really god stuff. In fact, half our house is furnished with stuff from his auction.

Don't know the Hightowers or Reynolds by name but I am sure I would recognize them when I see them. We don;t get out much except to go do our appraisal inspections. We are thinking of joining the Senior Citizens Center (they said they woud make me a junior member LOL ) .... they have a potluck every Thursday night and their own band plays ... they ROCK! People from all over the county and neighboring counties come for that.

Default terlton...lol

sounds like terlton hasnt changed much....lol. i think the auction in jennings, as well as few others around county was social events back in my days there to....lol, i swear my folks spent as much time outside smoken and yakken with others thenthey did inside bidden on stuff....lol.
and i hear ya about used stuff in house, my husband laughs at me all the time, i get more exited about some deal i found at a second hand shop then i would if i had bought at a store....lol!! i like the thrill of the hunt(bargain)!!
im glad to run into someone who lives there, it takes some adjusting for some. i recall when younger some moved there and didnt like it. im not sure id move right back into terlton, thinken closer to tulsa a bit more, but still want to be in country.
senior center huh??? hmmmm...im 36 and husband is 48...but dont tell, he looks 58....lol i tease him all time with his solid gray hair now(never knew him without gray...love it) but i do laugh when folks think he is our kids grampa instead of their dad...told him he best be carefull, some senior center might make him a memeber yet....lol. 2 more years and we get senior discount thru statefarm car insurance...i tell him about time he started payen off....lol but thats us, we tease eachother like crazy...keeps us whole. take care and have good day!!
