That's great because I truly believe in the saying, "Life's short! Eat dessert first!" Sounds like Tahlequah's restaurants are right up my alley. We're not much for fast food. Although, I have been guilty of the occasional drive-thru when I'm too dirty or tired from work to cook. (Seabee & I are trying to cut back on that though.)

Just my two cents...I live in Tahlequah and since I moved from a mayberry town of Westville where you can stand on your porch and look right and left and see both ends of town Tahlequah is big lol. It does have nice places to eat and visit. Good places to learn about cherokee history and such. It has grown ALOT in I would like to say last 6 years that I have really noticed. It's a college town and there are very nice people here. Now is it the friendiest??? I don't know bout that there are so many places that i'm sure others would say is but I would like to think the town I live in has nice people in it.

I moved here two years ago. Nice having the both of you in Tahlequah. If either of you feel like writing to me let me know.
I think it is the friendliest, and I have lived many places.
Iktadlock, there isn't much to do here unless you get into a club. Then you make friends and have plenty to do.

I've lived in tahlequah for a majority of my life. the club here is wack, unless you are a small town person an havent ever been to a big city with lots of clubs. everybody here knows just about everybody else. there isnt really alot for younger people to do u unless they skate or be distructive. The people here are friendlier then in louisiana, where i recently moved back from. the jobs here are minimun wage unless you have a college degree but even then they are few an far between, unless you like working at fast food or plant nurserys. i will say if you like to drink there is a liquor store if not two on just about every main street. there is a few bars here: NEDS is for the younger college students an the others are for older men an women. Tahlequah could however use some better shoppping places. There is a few parks here.............if you want to know anything else jus ask cause i will gladly share more about this "awesome" little town

Jessaka, it is not surprizing that Tahlequah is what it is. Between the Cherokee HQ and the University, OF COURSE they have all these things.

Being from New York, now living in Tahlequah, I think it's a nice quaint little town. It's a college town, so there are lots of young people here, and I wish there was more for them to do. I think all of their activity must be on NSU campus. They have a starbucks here that should have been put there on the campus, because I think I read where things may have been slow for starbucks (which is a spot for young people) and they could have benefited being closer to the campus, especially with kids walking everywhere and not always having a car.
There is muskogee ave, which has some nice little shops, but some of them look quite disorganized or unexciting inside and can use a little jazzing up. There is a club here on the corner of one of the streets, but it also looks run down. They could really turn that into something great, and there is a dream theater right next to it that is closed. If they could work on that street and fix up the club and become creative with that dream theater they could have plenty of business there and liven up the area.
They have now opened an outdoor mall that doesn't seem to be getting any business to rent out the stores, and that could be due to the economy or lack of proper advertising.
In general I like Tahlequah and I don't think it would be wonderful for it to become touristy. The place is growing slowly but surely, but I think they should work on fixing some of the old rather than just add on.
The people for the most part are nice, but there are the ones who look at you with such a stern face that comes across unfriendly, and that I think is just the expression of some. If you smile at some people they will smile back, so it's one of those things. Once people realize that you are receptive, they are more willing to open up a conversation or smile at you.
I love it here

We are retired. Lived in Oklahoma and Texas all our working life. Have traveled 10 years in our RV and can live anywhere. We will be looking in Tahlequah this next spring. Cost of living is low, lots of outside stuff, fishing, boating, hunting in the fall, plus they have a Lowes and a Wmart, a Bealls/Stage for her. If you need a big city fix, Tulsa is about a hour away, airport and several large hospitals. Plus the corner of N/E Oklahoma, N/W Ark, S/E Mo is on the edge of the Ozark's and just great country.
