I used to know a guy who grew up in Idaho. They had the same issue, and he had his own T-shirt to persuade people from moving in. It said:
Idaho: The Tick Fever State.

Someone who enjoys swarming yellow jackets? Yikes, I have a serious phobia of things like yellow jackets and wasps. Bad experience when I was about 5 that has haunted me ever since. Thankfully they're still gone but they'll be back soon

It's the same way in Alaska. You should read some of the threads in the AK forum, there are some incredible twits who think it's all one big adventure, and the state PAYS people to live there! No way. And there's all those people who want a guaranteed job on a rich fishing boat before they go, and want a plane ticket paid for - not gonna happen, not in this world. But still, they show up - "Gonna be like Jack London, gotta have a White Fang!" Doesn't matter that they've never owned a dog before, that they don't have the first clue about how to take care of themselves, they think the stories of -40 to -60 temps are all BS, they are sure that they can live in harmony with nature, and they end up getting themselves eaten by something 'natural' or making life very very miserable for anyone near them. A few are strong enough and flexible enough to adapt and love the life - most aren't and don't.

Trade you
We have lovely, mild weather here on the coast of Oregon-9 months of rain and cloud.Very, very little sun in the winter.Temperature swings of 40 degree's daily in summer, the moment the sun goes down, temp drops rapidly. We have not sat outside at night ever.Very, very few thunderstorms. No night fishing,no catfishing. We don't have poisonous snakes,we also don't have turtles. If you farm 200 acres and want to build a house for the kids, skip it,not allowed.Incredible zoning here, thats why we have such high cost of land and little urban sprawl. We have very few taxes,we have very few police. The county I live in is bigger than several states and has 6 detectives to serve all of it.You can commit 20 burglaries in 30 days and never spend a day in jail, they are so overcrowded, they are reserved for violent offenders + we have few public defenders.People here look at me like I am crazy, going to where there are tornadoes and bugs and snakes and hot weather and taxes.

Don't forget about the ice storms, floods, hail, churches on every corner, and wildfires, nocoldiron. There's more, but I can't think of them all at once.

Looks like spring is on its way. It's 64 outside, and it should be in the 70's tomorrow and Saturday.

It's only going to be in the 50's Saturday, at least in OKC. What's your location? South?
Side note, Bradford Pears are bursting out as we speak.

It's supposed to be 87 here in DFW tomorrow. It got up to 75 today. I like the weather, but dread Summer! Funny thing is, I can take the heat a lot better than I used to. I guess it's from living here in North Texas where summer feels like your 6 inches from the sun.

summers here in GA are pretty similar to the ones over there, and i HATE it, i would love to be buried in snow in a cabin up in Maine during the winter.
