Default sickofthesnowjerk

I am a sick of the snow person and am also going to check out Southeastern Ok. Warm sunshine,a place for my horses. I love heat, visit my best friend in Fla in July and love it. I am tired of the cold and want to get out of Maine. Looking for a place with a front porch in the Mtns.

If you love Florida in July you will probably love summer in Oklahoma. I have known people that love the heat of summer.

Yeah, the first couple are pretty. Especially the snowfalls with a little higher moisture level. Cling to trees without weighing them down. However, October to possible May or June, this year. This is why I look forward to mud season.
My one daughter hates it because it smells like dog poop to her.
To me it means Spring is finally here.
6 days and counting.

Default no log cabin, will small farm house do?

Hey,
You want buried in the snow. I'll trade houses with you next winter. Maine this year is like the frozen tundra. This winter I had to walk up the snowbank to shove off the roof. The good thing is I did not have to use a ladder. Todays weather where I live is 10 degrees but with the wind chill it is below zero. I'll swap with you, anyday!

Default horses,sun and long distance

To Goodpasture,
Yes,I do have horses and I was hoping there is long distance riding in Ok. Got my feet wet in Competitive trail and endurance riding and would like to do more but the weather here is not the best for getting out to do any training. Always seems to snow or rain when I have the availability to go. Arabx nose up,tail up lets go!

Anyone out that way do any long distance?

Kris

That offer might sound pretty attractive next August.

I used to do the endurance when I was younger, and rode drag on some of the competitive rides. The OETRA was always a good place to get that kind of information.

There are LOTS of rides in the area. Some are competitive long distance, some are just family oriented pleasure rides. Oklahoma has more horses in total numbers than any state except for Texas, California, and Florida. On a per capita basis, Oklahoma is #1 in horse ownership.

Also look at Trail Riding

There are NINE trail rides scheduled for March and April in Oklahoma. Some are AERC sanctioned, some are NATRC sanctioned, some are just fun rides. like this one today:

Quote:
San Bois Mountains. Authentic Chuck wagon dinner provided by Terry Rodebush of the Crossbox Ranch and cowboy poets. The goal is to raise funds for the Clubs programs. The day ride will begin at 10 AM, Saturday, March 22nd and end with a catered chuck wagon dinner, cowboy poetry and singing that evening. Come and ride along with us as we travel through the beautiful foothills of the San Bois Mountains in SE Haskell County. Bring a snack to hold you over till dinner and plenty of water. If your not up to a ride through the mountains you can still come out and support the county’s youth and enjoy some good ol’ down home country cookin’ and entertainment.

Sometimes land is for sale that is adjacent or in short riding distances of these areas where the long distance rides are held. Then you would have a great place to do those 6 mile trots.
