Need Help Once Again..
Ok I have a question for all you wonderful people. One thing that I really never got a chance to find out about was how is the Healthcare there in OK? Is it hard for adults to get some healthcare coverage either through the state or with a low cost program? Right now my son gets covered through the state, but for my husband and I it is really tough for us to get any kind of help through the state. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

LisaMarie, I no longer live in Oklahoma although my employer is there. If you can't get it through an employer, then I imagine there is some way to find out. Go to this website:
www.tulsanow.org
And then click on "public forum" on the right. There are several forums (forum chat, discussion, politics, development, and so on) where you could post a question and I presume many of the good people on this forum would answer. I just got off that site and there was a question about flexible spending accounts that was answered by several posters so I'm sure they could give you some insight as to health insurance accessibility. Good luck!
PS. You will have to register to post on the site but it's a very good site and excellent resource.

am origanally from oklahoma, not to say a bad thing about it but..unless you have job w/benefits youre outta luck on the healthcare issue. Soonercare is an option for low income families with kids. State program only kids and pregant women who meet state guidelines are eligible. As with any state private pay health insurance is an option if one can afford it!! Hoping when you relocate you land a job with the perks!

LisaMarie, there is another option. If you have just about any semblance of Native American blood in you, and it doesn't matter from what tribe - Oklahoma tribes (Cherokee, Chickasaw, Chocktaw, Creek, etc.) will provide you with free healthcare at some very fine facilities. You will need to be confirmed as having a Native American bloodline, which is not difficult, but the benefits are enormous (housing, medical care, and more). Some people frown upon this, but many of the Indian Tribes are self-sustaining these days and besides, in my opinion the Native American people were pretty much screwed out of alot and are deserving of some help. Aside from that, in most cases, these Native American tribes employ a whole lot more non-Indians than they do Indians. They also give a lot back to the community in the form of community development, facilities, and much more.
