I'm glad Anna is going to school, even though she doesn't need the credits. I hope Doug can find a new job soon.
My family moved around when we were kids. It was always pretty hard to get everyone settled. Some would love the new place & others would hate it.
I notice every once in a while the levees break in the tech thread.

Plus I sense that everyone adjusts at a different rate. I'm already fine with the move, but I LOVE change. Doug is, except for the job. Anna is about 1/2 of the way there, and Scott is the stubborn hold-out. However, he is more cheerful each day. He just got hired by Hobby Lobby yesterday to do grounds work at $10.00 an hour which pleased him. However, he mentioned that now he can save a lot of money to move back to NJ
I know from past experience in moving that it takes (usually) a full year before you're completely "settled." And in some cases it takes longer. Even though I am not a fan of heat and humidity, with the central A/C (which we didn't have in NJ), and the pool (which we didn't have in NJ), I'm looking forward to the summer. We will also join the community pool in Mustang so we can meet some people.
Now if I can just get these dangblasted boxes emptied!

Now is when you wonder why you thought some things were so important to keep.
Well, after we get back from Maryland we want you all to come down for a visit in April, hopefully we can have a meet-up with as many other posters as I can lure down with ribs, Kawasaki mule rides, or catfishing.

Anna's very excited. She remembers your promise to let her ride one of your horses. Be sure to have everyone bring something. When do you leave for Maryland?
Just as I read "why you thought some things were so important to keep", from your post, Anna picked out a weight from the balloons at my neice's wedding 8 years ago and asked "why did you bring this?" Who knows?
Got every room emptied except the living room which I'm working on today. Scott emptied out all the boxes of books, tapes and CDs, which are now strewn all over the floor. I have to figure out if they all will fit in our five bookcases
Scott's in a good frame a mind today. He went to Hobby Lobby and bought art supplies and is painting a picture of him and Loni (the GF) that was taken at the beach last summer. He drew a few very large cartoon figures on his bedroom walls, which looks great. Drawing/painting always relaxes him. Things are looking up (I hope)

Glad you're surviving the move Colleen!
It didn't take us a year to unpack last time,
but I think it took a year to recuperate though.
Also glad to hear Anna is adjusting reasonably well,
and Scott may be coming around.
I feel bad for Doug though...
What's so awful about his job?
IT can be stressful for sure, but it should be
more pleasant amongst the Okies than it was in NJ....
Or is there something he may want to hip me to?
(Sorry for the bad PeeWee Herman terminology)
Get that storm cellar ready, Spring is here...
(And no, I'm not laughing at you, I'll be worried about tornadoes soon enough.)

The main problem with the job is they've been in a "crisis" mode since he got there. He's working 12-14 hours a day on a system he's not familiar with, which they knew when they hired him. He has absolutely no problem learning something new, but they're not giving him time for a learning curve. They're not upset with anything he's doing or not doing, but he's putting a LOT of pressure on himself. He had a pretty high pressure job in PA before we moved, and he was looking for something a little less so. He put his name back out with the headhunters, so we'll see what happens.

NJ humidity is 10 times worse than here. A hot day in that populous region feels like crud

I'm glad to hear that, because I kept wondering if the humidity was worse here or in NJ. I can take the heat, but really bad humidity turns my brain (what's left of it) to mush.
