Question April trip to OK - travel suggestions?

So far, so good with our plans on coming down to OK in April. Tentative plans are to leave out of N. Ohio April 11 (we'll be driving) & drive pretty much straight through to OK. We want to spend most of our time in OK. The first part of the trip we'll spend in the eastern side & travel to the Fort Sill area later in the week. We'll probably head back to Ohio @ the 19th.

Are there any must see places or routes we should see or take?
Are there any places we should avoid since we'll be short on time?
Weatherwise or should I say clotheswise, should we be prepared for cool nights & warm days?

We are r-e-a-l-l-y looking forward to coming down. I did get some very nice maps & brochures from the Oklahoma tourism site.

Thanks for your help!

I don't have time right now so I can't elaborate on my post.

A must see place is the Talimena drive, I've never been on it but I've heard it's absolutely gorgeous. As for the weather, yes...prepare for lows in the 40's and highs in the 70's.

We have air mattresses here in Mustang, also. However, be prepared to help us unpack some boxes -- which I'm sure will still be around in April. Seriously, dm me if you will be in our area.

Default Beaver's Bend

I am from Southeastern Oklahoma and while you are in Oklahoma I would highly recommend you visit Beaver's Bend Park. The lake is beautiful. This will also put you near the Talimena drive. Which is better in the fall but still quite lovely in the spring. As for the weather, you can't really be sure in the spring. Definitely be prepared for afternoon thunderstorms!

Default Thanks everyone for your replies!!

Don't you know we're having trouble again w/our home pc again today? I'm surprised dh (seabeebolt) hasn't tossed it through the window already. So I'm checking in here from work.

I sure do appreciate your offers Goodpasture & Colleen for a place to crash. We'll be on here checking out things daily & will have a better game plan as to specifics when we get a little closer to travel time.

We do want to check out the Talimena drive, Nameless. I've seen some beautiful photos of it online. Beaver's Bend park sounds good too.

When I get home I'm gonna update my map to note where you all are at but, for now it's back to the old grindstone......it's tax time for me!

See, you all are so nice!!!!!!

Only have a couple of seconds here, but....

You probably have a polymorphic virus...
I've been doing some residential work lately,
and everyone's getting clobbered with them.
(Except for my regular commercial clients because they're properly protected behind a Linux based firewall / transparent proxy server / router / content filter / gateway.)

They change on every boot, and no anti-virus or malware utilities
stop the new ones... Yet.

They have to be manually removed from the registry.
And you have to get all of it in one shot or it comes back.

The people you took your machine to may have gotten rid of a lot of
bad stuff, but they didn't get it all...
(Either that or my friend Seab has been surfing some pretty bad places since the machine came back.)

Here are your options;

1. Take it back for no charge.
2. Take it to someone with a clue.
3. Format and re-install Windows.
4. Toss out Windows and try Linux...
(It's immune to all those win32 problems.)
PCLinuxOS

BTW...

Tell Seab I said hi! and we miss him.
Also tell him he wants to go fishing in the Blue River....
Synop tells me it's awesome.

April will be prime weather for Thunderstorms and with them possible hailstorms, so be wary. I love spring thunderstorms with those huge majestic clouds that blow up out of nowhere.

I'm sure you have them up in Ohio too. Its one of the things I really like about Oklahoma. What part of Oklahoma are you folks looking to relocate to?

Western OK tends to be flat and treeless, except for the Wichita mountains, and eastern is green country.

You should have a blast just taking in the scenery. And remember, some of the cheapest buffets are at the larger casinos. Not sure if you like the atmosphere, but they are cheap.
