OK...so most of the people are nice. I moved here for my husbands job. But honestly some people here love my accent and others tell me I'm obnoxious. I know my views are different and I sound different. I was even blamed for someone going to HR because of "tone" and "accent" and HR agreed that I talk "different". I was deeply inflamed. And it drives me crazy that everyone needs to tell me in sugary tones to go to hell. I was born in Boston. That's where I came out of my mothers womb. Why should I apologize that? I know my views are different and I talk different but to be honest a city that seemed so friendly doesn't seem so anymore.

If you live in small town Oklahoma, I'm not surprised. However, if you lived in a college town, the people there are more accustomed to people who are different, due to international students.

Everyone?

Accents and differing worldviews are the norm. Sorry if my view is different. I guess there ARE people here who don't fit in to your negative view of Okies. Maybe you should stop generalizing and saying "everyone". You are in good company, we have a few malcontents who love to air out their grievances here.

Chittycagodudette and bawac will chime in I think.

Seriously? You feel you have to apologize for your wombing out?! LMAO! You? Obnoxious? . I love it.

Hello Redbird - foreign import here (legally for those who want to know).

There is more to someone going to HR but accent.

It is not all rosy in OK and OKC but is it anywhere else?

OT - check Izzi's picture on my album.

Dang furriners everywhere! It's in the Okie constitution. You must apologize for where you came out of the womb.

Hmm, let's see, came here for a job and now is stuck here. Sounds like someone we know!

Sorry to hear that Groovy. Not sure where you live or work but sounds like some unhappy people.
I am from Texas, which is worse than being a yank around here.
Luckily I talk like an Okie so I can fly under the radar.

Did you notice that she said she was stuck in the "Midwest"? That "someone we know" isn't gonna like that.

Whenever I go to the Metroplex, which is often since the government entity I work for is based in Fort Worth, and because it's the Metroplex and not Lawton, I'm amazed and amused by the great number of OU stickers I see on vehicles down there. A few weeks ago at the Dallas Farmers Market I saw a shirt like this but didn't get it (I already have a Dead Armadillo Brewery [Tulsa] shirt that gets a lot of stares):
