This month my family and I (2 adults + 2yr old) will be driving from STL area to DFW and we want to stop for a break somewhere around Muskogee (looks like we will be on highway 69).

Does anyone have any suggestions for a peaceful park-like setting where our little one can run around for a bit on this route? It doesn't have to be the Muskogee area , just looking for suggestions in this general area (as long as we can stay on highway 69).

Thanks!

Just south of there around the north side of Eufaula Lake, I think there are some RV park places, also lake campgrounds.

Yes, go further south. Somewhere around Lake Eufaula or McAlester. Take the family to eat at one of the four italian restaurants in Krebs/McAlester. Most people go to Pete's Place if it's a family outing. There are Pete's, the Isle of Capri and Rosanne's in Krebs and Giacomo's down the road in McAlester.

All but Rosanne's feed family style so you and your crew need to be hungry.

Honestly, if you are coming through Oklahoma on HWY 69 this is the one thing that you can't miss.

Yes good idea on the Italian restaurants, and the Southern half of Lake Eufaula is prettier anyway, with rocky hills and clearer water.

I am not a fan of US 69;as a route it's heavy truck traffic on a poor road. I'd go thru talihina ok which is kite traffic and very scenic for OK. Around takihina are some nice spots to stop and it only adds an hour to your trip and about five years to your life..

It can be really heavy truck traffic through Muskogee, I take it every Friday. Sometimes it's ok but if you catch it at the wrong time it is kinda rough, stressful. It's a main truck route. But for the sake of an hour I wouldn't try to duck it. The landscape is fairly scenic through parts of it too.

The Five Civilized Tribes Museum might have some space for kids to run around.
